Well folks... looks like she's done. Here she is - the completed Santa Maria. I'll edit and post more of the finished photos, then eventually her final port of call - I have to wait for the Admiral to clear off the Christmas decorations after the new year before the Santa Maria can rest in her final spot.

Sorry I missed the completion ceremony ...... Bug you really did a great !! job on this build, like everyone says "just fantastic"... the aged look
was just the right ticket for this one..... and those ropes WOW!!, they really give it that worked look. nice job Bug...Have fun with the stage coach..

Nice looking work Joe - particularly with the deck planking.
I ran into the same issues (of course) during my Swift build - in that it represents what is essentially a fictional vessel. I used that as an opportunity to make some necessary adjustments to the AL kit - as well as include a few embellishments that may have steered beyond what a small Pilot Boat of the time may have had.
Incidentally - I also had to manufacture a few parts and change the rigging around, as (as you have found) AL's kit wasn't particularly intuitive in some areas.

Indeed marktime. A tragedy in many ways.

In the meantime - here's her temporary home in my office until after the new year, when the Admiral will allow her to be moved a place of more prominence.

Well, here's her final resting place in our Foyer, just up stream from the San Juan Nepomuceno. :-)

Incidentally, the old map is of a province in Italy I acquired while stationed there many moons ago. It'd had been sitting in my storeroom for 20 years, just waiting for an excuse to be framed and mounted.

(Yes - I realize it's not Genoa, Italy where Columbus was from, but I think it's cool none-the-less)

I do like her where she is as well. We're thinking about moving her into the living room next to the San Juan. I'll post another photo and compare the two spots. :-)

Next for now is this guy: A stagecoach I promised to build for the Admiral.

Then, my next build is most likely the Pegasus. :-) I want to do a British vessel and my youngest daughter loves horses.

Well..... almost finished with this build , just a couple more things to do..... this is a small update showing the railing,buoys and anchors finished up. All that's left is to install the foresails , the rest of the deck pieces, rudder chain and my stand. Thanks for looking in

Moonbug, thank you for your kind words. From what I see of your Santa Maria it should be me being envious of your skills not the other way around. Unlike most of the MSW members I don't have very good skills with basic tools and I am also very lazy. So I use the lathe and milling machines to do all the work and make life easy for myself.

I love your Santa Maria - I have a soft spot for this ship since it was the one that my Grandfather intended to make during his retirement but never got the opportunity. I still have the 1950's plans which would not pass muster compared with current information.
