  1. Just had a reply from John at Caldercraft. He says he is not aware of any problems with customers & I am very busy & got a lot of spam emails recently & genuine emails end up in the spam folder,he says it would help if a subject matter was put in the email. If there is a problem he will do his best to sort it out. Hope this helps, please do not "Shoot the messenger"! All the best Geoff
  2. there's no real answer to this one, I think this way. Take a 1" diameter treenail, reduce it to 1/64", (a common model shipbuilding scale) & then ask yourself "Is it really worth it"? The other side of the coin is that some models look spectacular with a treenailed deck , or hull. It's all down to personal taste really. Hope that helps, a bit!
  3. Thanks Mark, already done, lets wait & see!!
  4. thought you might like to know that I have just sent a message to John Wright at Caldercraft/ JoTiKa regarding some of our members difficulties. I have known John for many years & I told him I am personally concerned over this.I hope I haven't overstepped the mark, but it may do some good . I will let you all know when I get a reply. All the best, Geoff
  5. regarding the Blackadder figures. Resistance is futile, you must give in! All the best with your very interesting project, I will be watching with interest. Geoff
  6. I have never had a problem with Caldercraft/JoTiKa over many years dealing with them. All I can suggest is call them. I know it's a pain but they are very busy people. If you get to talk to John Wright tell him Geoff said to get your finger out & send my missing part. If he doesn't I will go round there & "Sort him out"! All the best.Geoff
  7. many congratulations Garward, thoroughly deserved! All the best, geoff
  8. I'm surprised to see that you have problems over missing parts from Caldercraft. I had a small ply sheet missing from my Supply kit. I phoned John Wright & he put it in the post next day.I have been buying kits from them for 20 + years, R/C & static & never had a problem. All the best, Geoff
  9. I like your battle station Doc Blake. A brilliant project & scale. Will be watching with interest. All the best, Geoff
  10. I just typed "Amazon" followed by "Fly Tying Equipment". Hope this helps. All the best, Geoff
  11. I got some excellent scissors from a fishing fly tying equipment site at Amazon, they have some other tools that are of use to us as well. All the best, Geoff
  12. Jan, just checked "Bestscale models . com", looks very similar to "bestship models.com". If I were you I would avoid it like the plague!!
  13. Sorry Jan, can't help you with this one I'm afraid but my motto now is "Caveat Emptor", or "Once bitten twice shy"!
  14. I only use CA glue nowadays for stiffening the end 10mm of thread to make it easier to pass through blocks etc..
  15. Thanks once again Mark. I don't think any member will ever post a build from their plans, if like myself they can't get their hands on them anyhow! IF by chance (ha ha) my plans arrive guess where they are going? Clean answers only please!!
  16. so, basically what you are saying is they are untouchable? I guess I will have to put it down to experience, but what do they hope to gain by behaving in such a despicable way? I wish I knew where they lived! I would love to see their name appear on the banned list
  17. I'm sorely tempted to Email this company & tell them they are blacklisted by the MSW/ NRG but I need permission first, what do the administrators think?
  18. thanks Mark.I am aware of the banned kit manufacturers but not plan suppliers, can they be added to the list to warn the unwary like myself?
  19. if you look at their website it looks so authentic & genuine & as I joined MSW after the crash I didn't know that this company had been "Discussed" before, Oh well, you live & learn!
  20. I paid by debit card on 17th August, it may be too late for a refund? What really concerns me is this. If this company is ripping people off then maybe they should be blacklisted like some kit manufacturers are, or is this a knee jerk reaction?
  21. I came across a website called "Bestship models .com" recently. Being interested in the Endeavour I ordered a set of plans at a cost of $23.50- £14.53 from them. This was on 17th August. As I had not heared from them by 30th August I sent them an Email asking when I could expect the plans to be delivered. I still hadn't heared from them by 5th September & Emailed again . I am still waiting for a reply. Am I being impatient or does anyone have any information on this company? Any help much appreciated. Geoff
  22. only yesterday I was going to post a question "How to tie a Turks Head" ? Now I know, plus lots of other knots , many thanks! Geoff
  23. I would think that wax attracts dust unless the model is in a case? I use PVA applied with my finger & thumb ,it tends to remove some twists as well. Geoff
  24. I saw it as 150 issues @ £5.99 each + binders etc. = £900.00 + 3 years to complete? WOW!!! Geoff Oh yes one more thing, did I see MDF in the TV Ad?
