Thanks Bob, I'm going to be watching you carefully on the bow planking. I have the same sort of bluff bow. I just took a cruise through your endeavour build as you'll see from my likes.
Best, Ian
Hi Ian
The bluff bow certainly makes the planking a bit easier as the amount needed to taper planks is shorter because the bend in them starts a lot further toward the bow

To be honest...I think the Amati is anything but Greek. Maybe something else, but I think it's some sort of fantasy design.
The Dusek kit is obviously based on the images we have from Greek black pottery, maybe not perfect, but close enough.
Robin
Plus from what i have read in your log the Dusek kit is supplied with better woods

May not be a very exciting phase of construction but it is a vital one.
I've told my boss that I would let him have one of my models if he would let me work on it while I was at work. He told me that I could as long as I was done with all my actual work. Unfortunately, my actual work never stops.... I really need a clone...

Well that didn't take you long to install and shape . Looks real nice and true, good stuff.
Thanks Don
It took a day and half but i cut down the work involved by using the same method i used to fair the frames on my defunct Bounty. Get a belt and using double sided tape stick some sandpaper to it, you can then wrap the belt round the bow and along the edges of the hull and just pull it backwards and forwards. Altering the pressure either side as needed keeps it all even

My own builds can sit around for ages without getting anything done, but when i get interested in someone else's build i can't wait

Thanks Bob, yes those hammocks really did cause some grief, but it was worth it, they add a lot. Sadly I now realise why the outer set of hammocks were folded; I assume they will foul the cannon tools when they are fitted. I should have realised. If I can get away with it I'll leave them, but I suspect they will have to be folded.
I didn't realise that's why there were the few discrepancies between the plans and the manual. That would explain it. As you say though, they could all be worked around.
I hung my hammocks on the 2 hooks furthest away from the cannon tools and i made the ropes a bit longer so they hung lower away from the gun port rigging. That way i was able to leave them all in the open position as the look better to me open and they did not foul the tools

That HobbyZone stuff is quite good stuff for the price of it. I have few of their things myself
