Hello Frank, I must admit that the kind words i receive from you and from the others in this build log are very very encouraging and keeps me going.. .The first time i was involved with models in general was the bluenose build (I had a chance to learn a lot working on that build. And still consider myself as a beginer) , and i loved it... But without you guys , i don't think that the ship building would have so much fun and joy. So.. I do thank you very much for your nice comments and likes. By the way my family has 300 hundred olive trees and we make olives and oil every year for all of us.. I'm crazy about olives especially olives kalamon (City of Kalamata, Pelloponnese). Just give me your address and I will be happy to send you some... :) Kind Regards Dimitris

Hello shipmates, Edwin-David B-Nigel (UpstateNY)-Greg-Mike-Slog-Nigel (NMBROOK)-Patrick-Nils-Don , I do thank you all for your likes and nice comments! I made a mistake and glued the bowsprit first.... As a result the stanchions and rails in the bowsprit area gave me a hard time to install and paint them properly!!! It took me a little longer than I expected.. Kind Regards Dimitris

Hello Glenn, I haven't seen a build log of a riverboat again... Like Nils said, it is a very interesting project. You are of to a great start with your build.. I will follow along if you don't mind. Kind Regards Dimitris

Thank you Nigel for your likes and for your kind comments.. I'm thinking of fixing the bowsprit in place first with all the chains, netting and blocks ( but i have to be very careful after that with my movements... Then the stanchions and hand rails under the bowsprit. I'm also thinking of leaving the life boats last so as to have more space when i am working at the masts and rigging. Cheers Dimitris

Heinz welcome aboard , thank you for your encouraging words and for all the likes. I consider myself as a beginner regarding the ship building . This ship struck me when I first saw it .... And i said to myself that i have to build it.... This is my second build..For my third build i chose Royal Caroline 1749 (which requires much better planking techniques).. P.S. Your English is great (my English needs more practice)... All the best Dimitris

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
