Thanks Vaddoc!
I’m glad you liked the ‘leopard skin’ rug under the curved settee in the saloon. It’s actually cut from the latest Nespresso coffee brochure! It’s amazing what a bit of imagination can do when you’re looking for colourful additions to a ship’s decor!
Have a great week.
Cheers.

Thanks Carl!
Yep. You’re right about the decor. Very 60’ish, yet retro at the same time.
Thanks for looking in!
Cheers.

Hi Denis, Lawrence and everyone else on MSW!!!!
Thanks for your all of your comments and Likes! They’re always greatly appreciated.
Whilst my working life has gone into overdrive over the past few months, (leaving precious little time for MSW), I have been able to make a little headway on Genisis’ interior. As you can see, the main saloon and the owner’s suite up for’ward have been started, as has the interior of the sun deck’s accommodation.
Lots of fun still to go.
A big Happy Father’s Day to all dad’s in Australia today!!!!
Cheers.

I finally get over here in the scratch build forum..........I just had to see how you were progressing. I see you have made some really good progress on her.....she's looking great in her updated paint........and you've done quite a bit to the interior! very nice inside I really like how the wood grain peeks out from the black. I know how you feel about time........I haven't had much myself either. it's a good thing the hobby is forgiving in that respect. as long as your making progress, then the journey still continues keep up the stellar work!

Genesis is most certainly a real joy to work on. Tricky, but fun, nevertheless.

Hi Michael
Yes, you’re right! Futuristic indeed on the outside and dare I say it, if you googled the actual yacht (Khalilah), I reckon you’d agree that its interior is slightly gaudy and ostentatious (to my tastes, anyway) on the inside.
I can only only try to replicate what I can at this tiny scale, though.
Thanks for dropping by.
Cheers

This yacht looks very futuristic on the outside will the interior express the same sentiment?

And the farmer plowed on (as we say down here) steadily you continue, fast isn't necessary, as long as you keep that momentum. lovely, mate

Hi folks
Sorry I haven’t had much time lately to follow everyone else’s Build Logs lately, but hopefully that’ll change soon.
Anyhow, here’s a quick update of Genesis. Lots of work, including painting still to go.
Cheers.

Hi Vaddoc - yep...well. Sort of. It’s the stern sponsons that actually trick the eye into thinking that the hull narrows amidships. Kinda hard to get your head around it, I guess!
Thanks Brian. Never a dull moment in this shipyard😊!
Thanks Denis. I really like that Bat Boat and her fins. Mmmm, maybe I could add the odd fin, or two....
Hi Lawrence - welcome back to my shipyard. It’s great to see ya! I’m kinda in the same position as you, what with work and what not taking up my time lately. Not much time to follow yours and other Build Logs lately; but hopefully that’ll change soon.
Cheers

So, you cut those boat parts with the Death Star? Very nice.

Hi Mark
It's nice to see you are finally able to get back to working on your build and also interesting to see how far you have gotten on the ship's boat issue.

Thanks for following along this voyage everyone. Things have settled down a bit and I'm getting some shop time. So on with the build as time permits.. now where was I? Oh... the carvings have been set aside (again). I probably have a mental block for them. So it's back to the ship's boats.
I've basically dumped all the old formers and bits that had worked on as I just wasn't happy with the way they were turning out. Felt like something was really amiss so I went off on a different tack. I hope this time will be the magic one. I've done a test boat (didn't complete it) that showed me the "true" path to enlightenment. Or something like enlightenment.
I reworked a set of plans I bought and turned them into what I needed for the boats. I also decided to attack the 6" boat first and work down to the 4". Disclaimer: I sent the plans maker a copy of all the plans for these boats to see if they can use them. I'm also buying enough kits (3) so the build will essentially be on a one-for-one basis.
After reworking the plans, I've cut the first pieces which are the keel, building jig and all the associated pieces out of boxwood. I found that plywood un-glued itself or the glue went up on smoke and I ended up with charcoal. There were two pieces of the build jig that I cut from 1/4" basswood and it's been cleaned up as necessary. I'm currently removing the pieces, cleaning off the char as needed and putting together the keel and building jig. I hope to cut out the ribs and planking from Swiss pear later this week. There won't be twarts, rudder, oars, etc. inside this boat as it's the "bottom of the stack" as such and the next boat will fird inside this one.
The sharp eyed will detect a few errors in the photo such as a duplicate cutting due to my mispositioning the wood into the laser. It's a "just in case" spare now. There's at least one other obvious "I blew it" moment but those two parts have been corrected and recut.
There will be more pictures to come.

I found the clasp to my wife's ankle bracelet last week using the foot method. Worked like a charm...

When I was a kid I was walking across the carpeted living room. I felt a sharp pain on the bottom of my foot and started dancing on one leg. As i was hopping in pain my mom with a perfectly straight face said "oh, you found my earing". The entire stud was stuck straight in. We all had a good laugh about it later but I didn't think it was very funny at the time.
