Hello Dave;
I may be able to help you. Here is a picture from my build. The stern counter block is very important to get right. A lot of the future build depends on getting this right. I also am building the Conny with help from Bob Hunt's practicum.
The top of the counter is wider than the bottom
The hole is for the rudder to go through
The shape of the counter gave me lots of trouble but I worked it out. Hope this helps

You are welcome Dave. The plans leave much to be desired. For instance, some drawings on the plans are not symmetrical port to starboard when they are supposed to be, so keep an eye out for this.

OK, now that I am home I looked at the plans and I think I see the problem. If I measure the width of the template for the stern filler piece from the plans it is 1 5/8" wide at the center.
If you measure the length of the filler piece on the side view part of the plans it is only 1 1/2" wide. I think this may be showing the length of the filler piece at the sides which is shorter than the middle, but it is misleading (really it is wrong)
I think that is where the 1/4" or so is coming from. If you make the filler piece using the template you should not have to remove the 1/4" from the transom frames.
BTW - I used the free volume of the Launk Street Shipyard tutorial for this part of the build, which helped me a lot getting started. I am not sure if it is still available on line.

That's such an old photo Kirby.... taken by Leslie Jones in 1927....I kinda doubt it's been doctored over the years.

It was a long time ago that i have an update.
Little update....
I have make the yards for the main mast and the mizzen mat.
Now i have to paint them and put all the blocks on.
And there are a lot of blocks!
Between work and guitar lessons i have to see when i can do that.

But as you know it your self, sometimes the life is in the way.......
But.....a week later then I was saying but here is an update.
Anja finished 3 of the 6 hammock netting....
Still 3 to go and in the mean time I have make the spar/ yards for the front mast.
And place them !
Pictures of that are following.
Tomorrow I go to the spars/yards for the main mast.
Before any questions are coming.....yep, I place them without ropes or parrel beats or other kind of stuff.
I'am a little sneaky and I know it's not the way but for me it works just fine.
I drill a 1 mm hole in to the mast and spar and glue a brass wire of 1 mm inside.
You don't see a thing of it and I can work on the spars/yards without moving that thing !
Blame me if you want

Hello to all of you.
Everyone wants to see an update and to be honest.....me too !
Today I have make two spars for the front mast and hopefully tomorrow the last one.
I will make pictures of that before I try to find out how I have to attach those things to the masts.......
Anja has almost finished two hammock nettings and when they are ready also pictures will follow.
So please keep on building and when the time is there you will see an update.
I'm now to busy to catching up with all the build logs !

I'm back with you on your build after a too long of a delay, been very busy with other "stuff." Hope to free up some time to get back building again.

Anja was taking a look at the pictures and in the first picture she was not amused with with she is seeing.
She is telling me that that one should be much better so I had to remove it and make a new one.......
And you know that she's the boss in the house so.....
4 pieces of brackets are waiting now for the netting.
When Anja has time and I go to work she will do that for me !

The netting I received it from Hennie, another Dutch builder.
I also received netting from Grant but that's white.
I want to use that first but white is not an option......
And I don't wanna paint it.
