Hi Nils, Patrick, Dimitris, Greg, Carl and all other visitors. Thanks for visiting the shipyard, your feedbacks with such estimated comments! - for so many likes! - it's every time a pleasure to know you all in the audience! @Carl ... below, the "solution of the puzzle". Best regards, Mike

Some main features/characteristics may be well exaggerated by a model. It's like in the visual arts - if it is successfully done, this distinguishes a master! That will be all very nice - well done, Nils! All the best, Mike

Hi all Thanks a lot for all your visits and the likes on the last few logs! - they are always well appreciated! @Patrick ... I hope, that you have for your part a long patience with my workshop. Now, let's have a little break from the deck. I like to show you a beautiful painting of a CA-Pilot that I found on the web (http://www.kyst-norge.no). Best regards, Mike

Hi Patrick Thank you! - but that's still a long way up to the wet ... ... otherwise, you hit a sore spot! - the final density test is not yet done! I was too impatient and wanted to get start the deck - you see, so much for my famous patience! I am however very hopeful that with the use of the Primocon primer (Log #127) everything turns to the good. All the best, Mike

Hi Igor I press my nose flat on the screen! - Your report reads to me, like a thriller on the bestseller list! - I wanted, I had nerve as you ... ... incredible! Cheers, Mike

Hi again Thank you all for the visits and so many likes! @Patrick ... thanks a lot and cheers! @Paul ... thanks a lot, always greatly appreciated! A special case of the planking we'll find in the area of the wide groove of the openings (they will be later equipped with an elastic gasket). There I have a “flying“ plank without bearing - it's hanging in the air. The fix of this problem shows two planks coupled on the underside (s. below). Best regards, Mike

Hi Patrick Concerning covered thoughts ... ... sometimes, even myself I don't know, what exactly I have had in mind - such a long time, I was thinking about this deck construction process. I'll be glad if all went well and if I can everything disassemble and reassemble after milling the openings. Cheers, Mike

Hi Patrick, Greg, Nils ... ... as well as everyone else who visit “Colin Archer’s“ shipyard. Thanks for all of your feedback, comments and likes. Always greatly appreciated! @Greg ... yes, I'm looking forward to the caulking process and the subsequent scraping of the deck toward the final shape - to this, you finde a preview of the making of in Log #76. Best regards, Mike

... once more a little update ... ... after some planks, I have to cut through the cockpit frames. This way, I must later milling out only to a depth of 3 mm (dimenson of planks) for finishing the cockpit opening ... ... same process for the front opening ... ... and then the planks with day lights. Best regards, Mike

Hi Patrick, hi Dimitris, as well as everyone else who visit "Stavanger's" shipyard. Many, many thanks for all of your feedback, comments and likes. Always greatly appreciated! @ Patrick Patrick, you faithful companion - always welcome and thanks a lot! @Dimitris It’s good to know you back in the MSW shipyards - and thanks a lot for such a great feedback and all the likes! I’ve decided to tackle the design and construction process of the deck in a little unconventional way. At this point the following points are to noticing: - There is only one construction layer for the deck - no false deck below (s. Log #90 and #76). - Cut-outs boundaries are already prepared (s. Log #156). - Deck will planked through on its whole surface. - Cut-outs will later milled (Only this way, I can be sure that later everything just fits - hyperbolic shaped deck - s. also Log #90). - Longitudinal planking joints are subsequently milled (due to the future dark coloration of the deck, almost no one will remark the continuous wood structure as disturbing). - Caulking in a separate work step (s. Log #76). So, the following pictures show the beginning of this process ... Everything ready, plank stack in the background, plans. The first two - straight! ... ... and a pair of plank per day. Til soon, Mike

Hi Lextin Concerning the rigging topic you will maybe find something on: ... https://archive.org ... You have to search under books with keywords like "naval architecture", "ship building", "masting, rigging" a.s.o. There I have found the following book: "Masting, Mast-Making & Rigging Of Ships". You can download this item for free (PDF about 15MB). All the best, Mike
