  1. Just had a chance to to check out the Grecian in "The Search for Speed Under Sail". Oh boy, she has really sweet lines.
  2. Nice review for the first go at it.
  3. I'm saving my pennies for that American schooner. You can put me down on a preorder list if you have one, Mark Friedman in Arizona.
  4. Chris, you've got me hitting my resource material trying to figure out the lines of the new venture. The stern looks interesting to me. Maybe a small contest to keep us all busy researching American Clippers is in order.
  5. Thinking about a purchase has anyone built the Amati Endeavour 1:35? What is your opinion of the overall kit. Thanks in advance for the input.
  6. Hi, Google painted canvas flooring, or floorcloth canvas, loads of pictures.
  7. I use a mix of isopropyl alcohol and water, mixing sticks courtesy of Starbucks.
  8. I'm in AZ and used to live in Pittsburgh 20 years ago. Still a loyal Steelers fan.
  9. "No way around building Kufu's boat now. It will also serve as an 'extension' to my review, e.g., the kit calls for rounding the provided square stock to support the canopy framework over the cabin. This seems a lot of work - so they could have provided round stock, since MANY of these verticals are needed and individually rounding them can result in irregularities unless one uses a draw-plate (presuming the square stock is straight grained). As mentioned, the original posts have lotus heads that I'd like to include - ergo the idea of turning bamboo skewers. Obviously the kit can be simply built 'as is' and get a nice looking result, but I'd like to do better." Round tooth picks worked well for the supports, they are slightly tapered and I found give the right effect.
  10. Glad to see that some you are doing a detailed view of the build and that the summary I posted peaked your interest.
  11. Even here in Arizona with very low humidity rigging can sag during our Monsoon season (rainy season). What I learned to do is let the line stretch out, I hang mine with a light weight on the end. As well as a 50/50 coating of water and white glue. Seems to work for me.
