    Hi Thomes.
Your Victory is coming on nicely.
Just watch out when you cut out the holes in the sides that you do not catch the decks with the drill or saw.
I will try and post a build log tonight... Did not expect to to build so quick

    Regards Antony.

A very interesting build with lots of mods and extra detail that you added to make this an exceptional model.
Thanks for sharing your build with us.

    Hi.
A photo if much easer than words to understand.

This also has a hole for the Mast so I can check on alignment as I build.

Note that I have bashed the kit a little.

Got a few more beams in place over the weekend, they need to get a bit of a sand to tidy them up but they turned out ok. I dont have gaps that are too big, so I am happy about that. Still shaping the knees to fit so that will be next weekends job, hopefully.

    Hello Garward
    Well I'm caught up finally.
So how much more to add before your caught up to the build? This was a magneficent feat in 3 ways: The Build, the original log (sad loss) and then putting the log back up. Thank You so much for the efforts to include us in your project and teach us a few tricks of the Master along the way.

By the way, I didn't see you mention which finish you chose, or maybe I missed it. I'm guessing 4 the Linseed. I really liked the sheen of number 3.

She looks fabulous and the detail would take days to completely take in, believe me seems I've spend hours looking and relooking over the pictures.

AntonyUK reacted to Roryn in HMS Supply by Roryn - Artesania Latina - kit with adjustments
Just finished loading these photo's onto the laptop.

Progress has been quite rapid following my decision to restart. As some of you may notice there are a few changes from the original AL plans.
The nameplate and decorative panel were hideous metal plates that I just could not bare to use so I made up the windows and surrounds. The instruction book and accompanying photos show almost all the parts in wood but AL decided to use metal castings which are the wrong shape and very difficult to fit. I decided to make new ones in wood salvaged from the kit.
The bowsprit was the 1st attempt at rigging and although not perfect I am satisfied with the result.
I have noted in other logs that the AL plans for the rigging are not correct, but I don't know if I can be bothered to research the correct way to do it.
The deck gratings, capstan, gun mounts and gun ports have all been remade. I kept the metal windlass and just painted it and the cabin doors need a darker stain.

Next task is the masts and accompanying fittings.

    How about the cost?
Well, your own time is free, otherwise you couldn't afford to build model ships.

But the printer is not. Shapeways has a few different materials, see their site for costs. Typically it's US$2 or so per cubic centimeter of part volume, plus a few bucks per part for handling. With locations in Europe and the US, shipping is reasonable to most of us.

Part volume can add up quickly... the 23 inch long hull above, modeled with as thin a wall as I felt safe with in SLS nylon, is about US$150. And if I were to double the wall thickness, the cost would double. Other small parts have been bought in for just a few dollars... all depends on size.

Prices for metallic parts are significantly higher!

    Michael:
This cross section model was what gave me the idea to offer the Triton cross section project since it would provide the beginning builder a feel for built up framing and scratch building in general. Perhaps that idea has caught on in the past several years.

I used American cherry extensively in this model. It is hard enough, holds an edge, can be worked fairly easily with hand tools or power tools, and I was able to get some heart wood so the color is reasonably deep throughout. I also used boxwood for the outer bulwarks and gratings. It was great to work with. The mast and decking were both Western Alder; very straight grained stuff and good for spars, but a little soft. The hatch coamings were American walnut. The treenails were all bamboo.
