Fantastic progress since I last checked in. 

The hammock rails are a challenge. You are free to check out my build log to see how I handled mine. Not necessarily the best way, but it worked ok. You are very smart to do it now. I waited until after I rigged the ship and found that task incredibly difficult with all of the rigging in the way.

....and yes, the deck is about to get very busy. Just wait. But you are going to love the way it looks. It is going start to look like a real ship.

Great story. We are all glad you decided to pick up that copy of the Marietta Times newspaper.

For those that don't know, Marietta Ohio is a historic river boat town. Returning the NRG Conference there after a 45 year hiatus is an interesting idea. The city celebrates its Sternwheel Festival in September each year (cancelled this year...of course). It is a wonderful event. While the dates don't line up, a NRG Conference scheduled to coincide with the Sternwheel event would give spouses something exciting to experience.  I am attaching a link.

You are correct Roger. Zoar was established by a group of German Seperatists that fled Europe in 1817 and Napoleon’s conscription practices. They landed in Pennsylvania and secured a large chunk of the Ohio frontier from the Shakers that they befriended. They formed a communal society in order to survive the harsh conditions in the Tuscarawas River Valley and caught a huge break when the Ohio-Erie Canal company hired the Zoarites to dig (by hand) 7 miles of the canal along the river. The money they earned and the riparian connection to the country they gained sustained this communal experiment for 80 years. 8 full blocks of the original village has been preserved. It is a wonderful community and if you are interested in canal boats a destination about 2 hours from Toledo. 

Looking great.  There will be time in the not too distant future that you will really miss that uncluttered deck.

Great suggestion for Toledo and good point about University of Michigan football. They are playing at home on Oct 15, 2022 and away on Oct 22, 2022. It is about 55 miles from Toledo to Ann Arbor.

As a current Buckeye, and member of the Shipwrights of Central Ohio, I applaud consideration of Toledo as a potential site for the 2022 NRG Convention. Great town and fantastic Museum. Can't agree more that Sandusky and the Lake Erie Islands offer wonderful venues as well.

If you ever get the North East Ohio Area in early spring, give me a hollar. The Steelhead fishery in the Lake Erie Tributaries is first rate. I know of a hole or two. The walleye fishing in the lake is good anytime, especially this year.

You could also take in a visit to the Niagara in port in Erie Pa. Worth the trip.

I did that for every photo I took in this log to make sure that the photo was straight. I agree with what Rob said, even if I don't fully understand it. All of the photos were aligned, and had been so for years, and then at some point in the last couple of months, they weren't.

At least that is how I saw them on my computer and my old browser. Can switching browsers to Chrome on my end have anything to do with this?

It only happened to the pics that I made using my Iphone, manually rotated, and uploaded. When uploaded it had the orientation I gave to it, now it is back to its original orientation. No need to correct it, but just to letyou know that something changed (somewhere, sometime)

Like Jan, all of my photos, some of which rotated, were taken by my I-phone after a manual correction prior to uploading. When i finished my build log in April of this year, I perused my log and don't remember seeing any alterations for what that is worth.

Check out post #16 from my Niagara Build log for example. Nearly everyone of those photos randomly rotated. You can access the log below. Many of my posts now have altered photos.

I hate to beat a dead horse, but something caused many of my photos on my log to rotate. They were all true when i initially loaded them up and I am familiar with the suggestions made with Matt and Greg. I routinely open all photos in an editing program and make some minor change just to lock in the proper alignment.  All of these photos over the years were properly aligned. Now, something changed within the month.

I don't know if this is related, but did the recent changes made to the forum affect build logs. I just went through my log and noticed that a small number of photos have been rotated 90 degrees. I have no idea when this happened. I know that the photos were properly submitted and have been properly aligned for years. 

Is there a quick fix? Can I fix it using the editing tool? and if so, any suggestions on how to do it. I would not want to have to search my files (if i even have them) and reload the photos from scratch.

I went back into my log and found a more detailed explanation on entry #163 if that helps.

I twisted rope coils by gripping the end of the rope with tweezers, soaking them in the glue solution, and turning them by hand on a glass plate and leaving them on the plate to dry. I then scraped them off with a razor blade when dried. If you get the right combination of glue and water, the solution will be tacky enough to keep the coils tight while they dry. You might also need to dab the coils with a paper towel to remove excess glue.

Glad to see that you are safe and found some time to knock out some carronades. Nothing like some mind engrossing carronade rigging to take you away from the stress of the day. I forgot what a spanking newly rigged carronade looked like. They look fantastic.
