Hi all well repairs made.
This believe it or not was the worst bit ( I glued that wheel on at least half a dozen times)
and made a bit more progress

Ray1981 got a reaction from coxswain in Le Glorieux by Ray1981 - Heller - 1:150 - PLASTIC
Hi All,
Yesterday arrived this nice kit and I thought let make a build log from my progress. I havent seen this kit here on the forum yet so maybe it fun for other to see how much I'll struggle to get this job done. And maybe others will give me some ideas and recommendations.
It is my 3rd kit that im going to build and seems pretty difficult. And most probably its going to be more difficult when I will start with the rigging as far as I can see I will have to make some modifications to get that job done. I think I will order a dremel or such thing to drill some holes where needed, but thats for later. In the next couple of days I will start with some primer on the decks and hull and start painting the canons (there are 74). I will try (as I im trying to do with my Revell Bounty kit as well) to make the ship look like its used.
The kit the Heller develloped is the Le Glorieux at the time it was still from the French. This ship has been in a war in the Caribean during the time that the French and Spanish tried to conquerer Jamaica. But the English won and took the Le Glorieux in the fleet (so far about the hostory of this ship)
He some pictures of the kit:
The box
The hull
The sails, I'm not sure if I will use these. I like to make real sails but this kit is from plastic and I dont know if the masts can handle the weight of real sails.
I printed some drawings in A1 format for a nice reference
Well I hope everybody will enjoy following this log. I will try to show the first progress soon.

Hi Ray,
good luck with this kit! I'm building le superbe from heller, almost identical to le glorieux and it's great. Just take your time with it and I'm sure your model will come out just beautiful.
Best regards,
Lukas.

Ray1981 reacted to rwiederrich in Decided to make my own shrouds
I agree with some posts here. The shrouds are in of themselves(along with the backstays) a modeling project all by themselves. You can approach their installation in the same manner as you did with painting the fine scroll work or cannon work on your vessel. It's simply lacing lines to form semi-rigged structures. Work the lowers first or one mast at a time....what ever you do, establish a *Method* that works for you. Personally I rig the shrouds for a single mast first...then the next mast and so on. Then I tackle the ratlines...one mast at a time...in short..I compartmentalize my efforts..so the entirety of the shroud install process doesn't become to overwhelming.
Good luck in the next faze of your build.

Im not sure yet if I will leave this but this was my first atempt
I think the size of rope is not to scale but the kit come only with this size and the same size with a other color. So maybe I will change this when some ordered stuff will arrive.

Thanks for answering
Good point regarding when to start with this because making this splice (i actually dont know how to do this) would not work anymore because I have other stuff on the bowsprit heheheh rookie mistake i guess.
but here a screenshot on how to do it, i think i was to fast with asking this on the forum.
p.s. I dont know if im allowed to post this because its a screenshot from a book. If this is illigal I will delete it straight away.

Ok well I kept further searching and just found another great book regarding rigging.
The Rigging of Ships in the Days of the Spritsail Topmast (Dover Maritime)
This books seems very helpfull I bought the Kindle version and it got some nice pics on how to do this job. Nevertheless when others have some tips feel free to response.
