reklein reacted to Torbogdan in Fokker Dr.I by Torbogdan - FINISHED - Model Airways
A better picture of the engine. It is funny to compare it with Vossiewulfs picture. My pushrods are thinner than what they said in the instructions. Instructions said to use 1,6mm thick brass rod. I used .8mm rod. I used .4mm rod for the wire from the spark plugs, but according to the picture should have used even thinner wire. Oh well, it is a learning process.
Two of the instruments, will get some gloss varnish over the "instrument" to simulate glass and to protect it. Control yoke painted according to instructions. Don´t worry about the missing paint on the yoke, I will touch it up when it is glued in place.
The same stuff, ammo drum to the right and spent cartridge can to the bottom. These will be sanded to a better shape and then painted either brown or grey.

Nice looking project. I have to comment on those odd looking rear wheels though. Were they wood or what. Wondering how I could find out more on their engineering?

I have seen many people asking about OcCre models on this forum but very few logs about them. I realise this is a non boat topic but just at the moment there are several stagecoaches being built so I though I would continue the trend.
I have made lots of OcCre models and I think they are great. Wood is usually of good quality, metal mouldings excellent, instructions some of the best I have seen as they come in the form of a booklet with step by step instructions and photos. I appreciate their kits would be a total anathema to the scratch builders out there but they are good fun and make up into lovely looking models.
So, onto the usual box contents which you can see. There are always a lot of metal pieces in their kits but all small items are enclosed in a plastic box. The laser cut sheet parts are some of the best I have come across.

reklein reacted to Nirvana in US Brig Syren by Hipexec - FINISHED - Model Shipways - 1:64 - building as USS Argus
Rich,
Isn't this what is so great with MSW, making friends with similar hobbies and interests. That's how I met some of the people from here and getting involved with RC sailing as an example.
Enjoy the trip, I know you will like it.

I'll be shutting down my shipyard in three days so me and my Admiral can fly to Amsterdam and pick up our cruise ship taking us to Ireland. We'll be gone 18 days.
Most of you know Sjors and Anja from our great MSW website. Well, I'm very happy to say that Sjors and Anja will drive up to Amsterdam from Rotterdam and we'll be getting together for coffee and a short walk to the Maritime Museum. I met Sjors on MSW over four years ago, so we will finally get to meet face to face. How great is that?

I've just planned for tapering the veneer planks. It looks like a minimum of tapering will be needed to fit all the planks at this stage.

My plans are good, they even match the body former for length. Its just the templates didn't copy out correctly. For some reason I'm having printer problems and can't get the right size out of it or even to print for that matter. Error code says I'm having network problems. Material sheet says Jan. 2014. Also remember this is one of the kits I found in somebody's recycle bin. I'm going ahead with the build and will work proportionately to get things right. The instructions are excellent and will follow them.

How hard can it be for these guys to print those templates correctly for the kit......seems like the easy part. Anyway.....hope these help. Remember to set your page scaling to NONE when printing them. And measure the scale bar for accuracy where each segment should be 3/16" wide. If these dont match your plans then they probably printed your plans incorrectly as well. Always measure the scale bar to find out. That is why it is there. These are the original files.

I rechecked the patterns and both side patterns match the top view patterns and the plan sheet. The bulkhead former does not match the plans or template. Not to worry though. Check your bulkhead former against you template. My plans may have been miscopied. Just have to be a guideline. Even the very first former is off from former #24. Gotta get the grass mowed will post again this eve.

reklein reacted to keelhauled in Rigging Instructions 1/96 Revell Constitution
Interesting change. This was the ship that started my hobby. I ended up rigging the model in much more detail than the kit using other sources, but always went back to check against the kit instructions because of their clarity. Still think this is a great model kit.
