  1. Now those of you that have served, how long would it take to get this grunged up? I’m going to build her for 1942 and her first tour to the South Pacific before the first refit.
  2. Getting my head around how to progress and filling a few holes, there is a lot of PE for a small kit.
  3. No idea, I imagine they come as a job lot. You’d have to contact Pontos or Infini directly. They are the only companies I have seen use /produce them.
  4. OYes, the shells were usually explosive. The photo where the ship is upside down is when it was recovered from the sea floor after it was scuttled. They subsequently cut it up for scrap. The torpedo nets, I can’t really talk to that, apart from the fact they were abandoned mid war.
  5. Comes with the Infini upgrade.Amazing coincidence it’s the same size as the Pontos Dreadnought upgrade. Now, there is some black netting available that I used on my HMB Endeavour (yes I can do wood as well) that I got from Cornwall Models years ago.
  6. Unfortunately their shipping to the bottom of the earth is astronomical
  7. A few reference books. 6 sheets of PE, lots of resin and brass too.
  8. I saw this upgrade from 5 Star models when I was watching @Jack12477, 's build of a Fletcher. http://steelnavy.net/5StarFletcherUpgrade350FBustelo.html Then I saw a photo on the net of some oilcanning So I thought, challenging, detailed (seriously the hardest PE set I've seen to date), I can beat it up, and it's small so mistakes won't be so visible. As it's a US Ship there are a lot of photos but this one will be strait out of the boxes.
  9. Here is an Anatomy of the Ship Iowa coningbout soon. A must have for you I imagine.
  10. Just place the net along hull at the waterline and there’s your template for the holes.
  11. It’s very well engineered so as long as you use the template it holds very well.
  12. Well, nearly done, the final cables and pulleys added. I want to rust up the nets some more then I can add the final anchor, strip the plastic wrap and await my colleagues
