    A gloss coat works better. No idea why. Glue is problematic as it’s hard to get a good even spread so just put out spot fires where needed using a metal shim and CA

    Oh it’s popped up in several places, change in temperature here to the mid 30’s. I forgot to gloss coat the flight deck under it first. I’ve already re glued it

    I’m in the process of adding the life rafts. These sit along the gantries, the PE set gives you netting which runs purportedly along the railings but the reference photos show them at 45 degrees with a railing running along the top and the liferafts lashed to them. Also the ends of the flight decks are starting to lift as we have had a spate of unusual humidity.

    So I entered my first ever Model competition this weekend with Seydlitz & Zeppelin. Did OK. Best in show and best ship and best ‘what if’ for Graf Zeppelin

    I think they are the seam lines on the wings were painted maybe as a weatherproofing as did transport last it’s the only thing that makes sense to me

    Are you using acrylic or enamel? AK goes done excellent washes that will dull it down

    So when you make the photo black and white and washed out…. So more weathering to go, exhaust stains and patches. I also need to fade out the star on the top wing

    References, each of the 8 cats are significantly damaged but all different, so to track they all get their own hanger for a while

    I’m still not happy with them. I’m off to buy some enamel silver to make them more ravaged. next step in the Catalina’s, highlights and a fading the a panzer blue filter to give it some depth.

    Not incorrect just not weathered like the reference photos

    Now the Hell Cats are pretty much done, as is the Duck. I’ve painted the Catalinas in a 3 tone base coat which I now have to completely destroy.

    I always find cable reels an absolute pain. You could use the centre of the kit ones (trim the edges) then put brass on them
