  1. Lower hull pretty much done. I’ll eventually give it a bit more salt streaks once the hull is completely done. I gave it a wash of enamel green slime
  2. Putty, prime, sand, repeat. Tomorrow I’ll start on the hull’s weld lines
  3. Looking great, I want to build one of these in 1/350 at some stage
  4. There are lots and lots of gaps. The plastic does not quite align. Now I’ve gotten all the main bits of PE down, I can fill cracks and gaps, smooth it off and fix the bits that invariably fall off, give it a primer coat then make a start on proper painting
  5. So I painted the interior of the hangar, now I’m in the process of sticking it all together. Painful gaps .
  6. I’d like to see Pontos do a few more upgrade kits for these 70’s/80’s warships
  7. So this is as far as I can go before starting to throw this but together. I need to paint the interior of the hangar, mask it off then stick to together. the bow supports are three little strips of PE. No other details will be added until the deck is painted
  8. Port and starboard side of the superstructure done up (lots more details but this is as far as I need for painting, and the roof with lots of cut and sand to go.
  9. They’ve got some nice(ish) stuff but the shipping is horrendous from the US to Oz ($25 USD for a very very small parcel) which you cannot track (they say you can but you can’t) and I will be finished by the time it gets here as it’s over six weeks. I ordered the Duck months in advance from shapeways and the product is poor (actually rubbish) and slow.
  10. No, I don’t really have anything that would replace it without looking like crap.
  11. Starboard side superstructure base half way end lots of holes that need to be made where ventilation shafts exit the hull
  12. Some hangar detail, won’t really be visible but needs must
  13. Hanger doors look like this plastic kit bit stripped down finished (for now)
  14. So checking my references I need to add another ladder as well (only Sydney had an extra)
  15. Whilst I’ve been awaiting putty and a primer coat to dry I did the funnel. The 3D print is from black Cat models, modern speakers and cameras
  16. Yes, I actually had a ‘mule’ kit that had 2 sets of stabilisers included so I didn’t have to scratch build them.
