  1. I’m going to pause this build now as I’m going to need to wait for technology and design to catch up. When Simon from Micromaster finishes up his new designs for a quad Pom Pom, Single Pom Pom and splinter matress I can finish them.
  2. Secondary bridge and searchlight platform (the searchlight has been eaten by the carpet monster FFs).
  3. So I still want to add some cabling but the fore mast pretty much done. The WEM upgrade comes with the lattice mast but everything else is inaccurate compared to the photos so a bit of a bash was required.
  4. The instructions for the MG platform between the stacks, as on Zulu, a bit of Cut and Paste, allowing for the open ventilation shafts underneath. My plan is to put splinter shields on top of the plastic card. The kit bits are way too thick,
  5. And a platform that had to be fabricated for the twin 20mm’s that had been added to the Eskimo by then
  6. Happy to see a massive plastic model here mate! Welcome. Any advice freely given (no matter how rubbish it may be).
  7. Last of the bridge details added before painting (later) and addition of fittings. I’m pretty happy with where it is
  8. Thanks, I’ve done up some sidelights and I want to do up some bridge details and the other stuff can then be added later. im nagging Simon at Micromaster to make some splinter mattresses as all RN ships had them
  9. No idea mate, but you can also glue a cleaned up piece to a piece of wood or plastic (like putting it back on a sprue) and painting it then cutting it off again
  10. There’s a really good shot of Eskimo with her bow blown off which shows a lot of close in detail, such as the wind baffles. These are quite easily replicated with card. I now need to put a wall in below the searchlight platform
  11. So the standard fit out from the Trumpeter kits show an empty gun position for Zulu (I’m still awaiting a single 2pdr to go here) the twin 20mm cannon that goes in this position on Eskimo (there are 4 on the ship) and the modified gun tubs
  12. So I’m back on the Eskimo. Amazing when you keep searching, you keep seeing things that weren’t there before. The twin 20mm’s added by 1944 (there were 4 of them) went on the lower bridge wings (replacing twin vickers machine guns) and abaft the quad Pom Pom. The forward ones had a pedestal beneath it replacing metal pillars with bracing. The kit is pretty much an exact replica of Zulu. A fair bit of bashing is required.
