    Now the Hell Cats are pretty much done, as is the Duck. I’ve painted the Catalinas in a 3 tone base coat which I now have to completely destroy.

    I always find cable reels an absolute pain. You could use the centre of the kit ones (trim the edges) then put brass on them

    Yes I will, no matter how hard I try I can’t see any numbers on the aircraft and I wonder if they were painted out before disposal

    Hellcats, three shades of blue so far, undercarriage to be painted then decals then weathering.

    Are you going to use decals or masks for the lines? Masks give you a lot more latitude

    Of the 18 hellcats I opened up the cockpits on 9, as there are 9 very obvious ones not nestling under a Cat’s wings. Trumpeter actually let’s you fold the wings up but they’re are completely incorrect requiring both the wing and wing root to have a bit a surgery using a razor saw.

    Next is a Grumman Duck which appears in the photo. The only way I could get one is to have it 3D printed from shapeways. It’s horrible but will have to do.

    Island and arrestor cables added, I’ve painted a lot of stuff that’s will be added at the end. Now, aircraft !

    I really like your hull plates. It’s almost an essential now for ship models as they are either non existent or so pronounced they would be a sea anchor. Yours are spot on.

    Part 2, I used a light blue diluted overspray then a tan overspray . I then have a the metal cross braces a dark wash (these are the metal sections they use to belay the aircraft) then another overspray.

    I detest Vajello paint. Tamiya and Mr Hobby is just so much easier m, the Tamiya lacquer thinner with retarder is just the answer, it works with the AL latest too. I must clean my airbrushes at least 3 times a session now.
