Nice and square, but I'd do all the rope work and blocks before you stick it on for good

This is the first Atlantic kit I have seen on this forum (or any other) I've seen, and the most beautiful ship. I'll be watching this with interest as it will be my next build after the Endeavour.

Yesterday while I was in the garage looking for tools I came across a model I started back in 1988/9. I never got a chance to finish the model because I joined the Navy. I thought this had been lost over the years so was a nice surprise.
I did not plan to start another build log until I was further along on the Ship's boat kit, but I need to soak some of the strips before I could continue. This gives me something to do while waiting on the other project.

I had completed the work on the hull and was working on the deck fixtures when i left off.

I believe I still have all of the parts.

The bulwark on the starboard side was cracked either from age or being banged around. All of the fixtures that had been fixed to the deck had fallen off.

Today I just plan to glue the crack in the bulwark. I cut a piece of bamboo to use as a spreader to push the bulwark out while the glue dried.

After the glue dries I will sand the crack and repaint the ship.

Last post of the year I promise! Bit of serendipity today as I actually read the plans and looked at the replica and the Topgallant shrouds have no ratlines! I'm finished with them! Shrouds and backstays in place. Lots of work on the bowsprit before I can add the last stay. next year it is.

Probably a bit too tight as it does kink a bit. The first shroud needs to be served all the way down to the deadeye to stop wear on the sail. I didn't fix my tops until I'd finished the shrouds as it let my fat fingers in to seize them. That being said, I never did get the deadeyes aligned properly but "meh"! At 1/64 some things just won't matter as there whole rigging thing makes it look so busy. Janos Caroline is just so perfect and neat it makes mine look like the cat did it. I've almost finished to top gallants so only a few ratlines to go.

I had to file the end of mine to fit. The AOTS shows some angles which I can't replicate. As for your waning enthusiasm, don't worry, I'm lucky to get an hour in a week on mine!

There is a sense of achievement finally fitting the topgallants. The topgallant futtock shrouds and thimbles were attached first which gets really fiddly seizing them properly to the Topmast shrouds. Strangely, the masts ended up aligned! 12 shrouds and 4 backstays to go. Finally given the Endeavour's strong ties to Australia, a boxing day BBQ is always on the cards, so the BBQ photo.

Hope you all had a happy Christmas.

This is my progress so far on Academy's HMS Warspite special edition.  It comes with extra PE and gun barrels. I also bought extra PE oelikons and pomp pomp guns.  he oelikon body proved too delicate for me, so I used the shields and bases and the plastic gun from the kit.

Some quick updates of recent works before Christmas.

    Rudder & Deck Modification

    Rudder
I've done the rudder together with its hinges over the weekends, and also the painting.  The rudder was done by using three 5mm x 5mm walnut strips, and tapper the last one to get into shape.

Then, I continued to the hinges.

Due to my silly mistake on the hull planking, I had to widen the hinges so that they can fit to the hull. Pictures below show the thicker hull compared to the rudder, not so noticeable from both sides; but from behind, it's really obvious.

Here you can see the mistake of the planking... the sunken keel

    Deck Modification
For the deck, I've decided to remove the gangways at the waist area. I also had some times to put some planking on, and cut the skylight portion off.  Anyway, I've a little bit concern on the ladder position of the quarter deck.. My current plan is to locate the ladders facing towards bow direction and end between 2 guns, but I can't find any ship has similar design. Or should I make a jog plank like the HMS Pegasus (or Ian's modification)?? Hope anyone can help

As previously mentioned, the bow of ship as shown on the box is different from the instruction. There are two gun port lids instead of just the ladder. I'm following the box's version  and this is how she looks like now

This should be the last update of this year and since I'm going off for a short vacation in Thailand again tomorrow (actually in few more hours ).. so, wish you all have a Merry Christmas in advance!!

Daniel, I couldn't match your beautiful work on the Victory's anchor cable, but did rebuild the windlass on our boat to raise 500 - 700 lb. of anchor and chain. A bit small for the Victory.

Jerry, I'm still at the amazed stage of the white whites and bright colors.

Popeye, Where can I find a copy of your "Modelers Creedo?"  Sounds interesting.

Daniel (Sailor),  I looked at your bio and was astounded.  I was also a lieutenant in the Canadian Navy (Reserve) and as a midshipman, spent time on HMCS Sioux (tribal class destroyer) and HMCS Antigonish (Frigate), 1951 - 1954. AND built models of the Cutty Sark, USS Constitution and of course the present Victory.  Dream on!  Our dream came in 1999 - 2002 when we took our boat offshore  for three years and 30,000 miles. I couldn't find a build log, but hope you'll start one before getting too far along.

Nick, (Pompey2), Your Victory is a delight to behold. I'm looking forward to seeing the rigging come to life.

And finally, finishing up the Main mast topgallant yard.  Adjusting the foot ropes.

I just had a look at Frolich's Xebec Le Requin, it has the guns fully rigged, that is with tackle on each side of the carriages, breaching rope. From the look of the photo you've shown they didn't bother to add them to their model. You'll need some 2mm blocks for your scale of 1:75

Topmast blocks added. The jeer blocks slung under the shrouds required me to make eyelets and sling them. It looks really busy (it is) and because of the close ups looks somewhat out of scale, but by the time the topgallant shrouds are added and eventually the yards, the tension of the blocks should look correct.
