lmagna got a reaction from Egilman in SBD-3 Dauntless 1:48 Hasegawa - Edwardkenway-FINISHED
Let us know how your correspondence with Hasegawa goes. I hope it works out quickly.
Like Craig's Avenger, I have always liked the Dauntless. A very effective platform in spite it's more advanced age and certainly a more petite and graceful looking plane.

I need to quit stopping in here Craig
Every time I do it seems to thin my wallet a little more. My wife is beginning to think I have a mistress! All of these high tek models and after market stuff seem to require a lot of high tek stuff to make the best use of them!

Evening,
Thanks for the warm welcome folks, appreciate it!
Ron,
I have seen that video many times. It really has helped me.
A must watch in my book!
Ken,
That website is awesome! Already signed up for the news letter. I'll be exploring that one fully.
Denis, Lou, OC, welcome! Glad to have you all on board .
In my yearning to do something with this model while waiting for new supplies, I did some painting.
I used a bottle of Testors flat black and hand painted the storage locker and radio.
These might be some of my first pieces to try some airbrushing.
Besides today being Friday, It was an easy day to go to work because I knew I had a package coming from UPS.
I have heard of a website mentioned called scalehobbyist.com. Wonderful website with great products!
Bonus, they are in Nashua NH, me being in Lebanon NH, means basic shipping is essentially next day for me.
My first ever set of PE, with new paints and other fun stuff!
The photo etch itself is funky.
Strong yet weak and very light.
There's some small fiddly bits in these things!
I bought the below gun barrels just for a little fun.
It'll be cool to incorporate these in.
I decided to start with a few colors from Mr Color. Never used this paint before but have seen wonderful results with it in other builds.
So any paints I'll buy will most likely be Mr Color and Tamiya. I started basic with flat white, black, olive drab, and an earth green.
More colors will be brought in with a future order.
I bought some Panel Line Accent color as well, never used this before. But it looks like it adds a great dimension to any model.
I'll experiment with this on some scrap pieces first.
There was some progress done on the fuselage.
First things first....both halves got a warm soapy bath and will dry overnight.
Stay warm
Tom E

Well, the deep space "submarine" Discovery XD-1 is now completed:
It will be a little while before I go back to the U-Boot but who knows..... the urge may come back, quickly.

You need good vision to get into training and get your wings. Once that's accomplished, as long as you can be corrected to 20/20, they keep you. Only if something really bad, like you go blind in one eye (both eyes and you're out of there permanently, no questions asked, sportsfans) and then they can look at waivers to the rules. When times are peaceable, most likely you get grounded and turned into a ground-pounder. Which, for an aviator, is a slow death.
I was 20/20 until about age 44, then a slow decline started. I still correct to 20/20,😁

lmagna reacted to Old Collingwood in Mosquito B Mk IV - FINISHED - Revell - My next non-ship project
The floor and sides had to have quite a lot sanded away to get the sides to meet, even still its a fairly tight join - not much wriggle room, I will have to join the bottom fist then wait till its fully set before pulling and glue-ing the top in, that way I will make the joins as tight as possible.

OC, looking good. It pays to fine tune that floor to get your build fitting like it should. 👍
I sometimes wonder if the kit makers actually build up their kits, with the cockeyed fit at times.

The Mossie is shaping up very nicely OC. The photo etch inside the cockpit is paying dividends.

lmagna reacted to Old Collingwood in Mosquito B Mk IV - FINISHED - Revell - My next non-ship project
Another good day - kicked off by dry fitting the inner cockpit against both frontal parts to test fit, at first they would not meet so I did some investigating then light sanding - investigating - light sanding etc etc etc.........I eventually found the point where both side met with the inside cockpit inside.
Next job was to start fitting all the pe side wall parts some were quite fiddly not just fitting but picking up with fine nose tweezers, it took a few hours to file off some plastic moldings not needed - and re fit with pe, I did this on both walls then starting on the one side a ran some black and green paint in thing layers to preserve the detail.
I also made up the range finding device for the nose that is made up by transparency parts and some pe.
So this is the stage so far - including a dry fit of the one side minus some more paint and dry brushing.
