Hi @jbeyl, she's absolutely correct they go bad.

This is the 230V motor, though my Byrnes saw has the switch on the side instead of mounted directly on the motor housing regardless it's a simple circuit. I've had zero luck finding this and not sure what purpose they were manufactured for as they have an odd 3 hole mounting pattern and don't to the best of my knowledge fit any standard NEMA or IEC motor frame size.

Curious if either of you know what the model number for the 115v motor is?

    Looks fantastic Greg!

Will there be anyway to see measurements in the 3D model?

I hope the Hornet contract was useful.

Looking forward to getting this to help with my future Atalanta build.

After years of dust and battle damage she was put up in dry dock; cleaned layers of dust and battle damage repaired due to young growing girls. Then a brass plague added, new base to index a custom built glass case she now resides for years to come completely protected. The granddaughters now truly appreciate the work involved in building models having grown up watching me build various model subjects. In fact the younger one now builds Star Wars spaceships with LEGO blocks that are quite intricate.
Fair winds and following seas in her new home!

    Hi Ben,

For you and anyone interested I can share the python source code. There are some comments written in the code file that can explain the order of things and the calculations done.
If you encounter difficulties or other unclear parts in the code you can always send me a personal mail.
    This is the code file:
    ship-plan-adjuster.py

    best regards,

    Kris,

I shared a few things just to show some similar research but totally agree with your analysis.

I was curious if you happen to have Mac version or even better a GitHub repo with the source?  I’ve encountered the same challenge and love your approach.

As an aside, I wrote a small a Python script that used scipy’s genetic algorithm to fit splines that output control points compatible with how Fusion 360 constructed knots.

    Great work!

Just want to point out this is:
    Awesome Computer Vision research
The known references certainly assist dramatically.  I recall reading a paper about removing lense distortions by using a reference photo of a checkerboard, fitting the edges to make grid points and then fitting a transform function.  Seems like an adaptable solution.

After buying a few sets of cheap import files that really tended to incite frustration followed by anger, I decided to purchase some new files (post-hoc).

If if anyone is looking for upgrading files, I'm very happy with the following purchases.

    http://www.ottofrei.com/Habilis-Vallorbe-Files-Set-of-5 - Extra Coarse 00

    * These are $67 but work excellent as roughing files and have a nice balanced feel and are designed for use without a handle.  Basswood causes the files to not bite if too smooth it seems.  The 00 Habilis grab nicely on basswood and the extra weight seems to aide in the cut.  The 3-square works well in cutting slots, it fit horn timbers.
    * I've been using them for roughing work on filler blocks.  These gave me some much needed tooling between a dremel and the cheapie diamond grid needle files, which turns out is something I desperately needed.
    * Highly recommended.  A little pricey but given how much I use them now.

    * Very nice set of files.
    * I haven't used these much yet (i've only had them for a week) but I suspect they will be used very often as I progress through the build (and take on more metalworking projects).
    * $84-93

I suspect most users of these are for fine metalworking however the coarser cuts are quite useful for wood and other soft materials such as plastic.  I've had better luck getting better quality tools from jeweler supply companies over hobby shops.

I think part of the wood/metal file distinction is that it seems many vendors often categorize rasps as files.  Lee Valley does sell a tool called a milled tooth file that look pretty interesting as they function more like a saw instead of an abrasive.

I could totally be wrong on this!

Thought others might like to know that there has been a small bit of green and some dry boxwood as of late, presumably due to the ongoing infestation of the box tree moth caterpillars.

Regardless, I’ve ordered from several different sources listed below:

    https://www.workshopheaven.com/wood-blanks/boxwood.html (limited stock)
    https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/hucrompto0 (in stock)
    https://www.englishwoods.co.uk (out of stock)

The green logs, albeit many are twigs, I purchased as lot for £9 plus shipping.  So deals are out there, I found eBay saved searches indispensable.
