Hi Wayne, I just got this message...been kinda busy here, and not much time for the computer. We leave today going to Tallahassee then to Ft. Walton Beach, then back towards Texas over the next couple of weeks. Sorry we couldn't say hi to your uncle this trip. Had some trouble getting them to shut up, but I just held up a large ration of grog and it got teir attention long enough to snap one......

Well, we're in Kissimmee now. We went out last night and look what we found..... First we saw Augie steering his ship.... Then we found Mark and Piet loading and firing the cannon..... Then to top it off.....there was Sjors supervising the whole thing....what a rowdy looking bunch!!!! Enjoy guys....

Hi Hamilton, yes that was interesting.....I didn't know much about this either. The Govt. shutdown had the park closed so we couldn't get in. Funny how they can hire guards to keep you from getting in, but not personnel to allow the doors to open....and they charge $12.00 per person to go in....it pays for itself, but guards don't.....go figure.

Hi Piet, Just catching up. We're in Orlando now. Seeing Mickey next week. Looks like you've been busy. I do know this...I am really glad I've seen this in real life. It really puts things in perspective and I have a tremendous advantage over the rest of the forum because of this. Things are shaping up nicely. Glad the exhaust shrouds worked out that way, they look really nice. Of course, you know that you HAVE to build the torpedo launcher. There is so much detail there that it will really make it a "giant" focal point to the model. With that much detail it should be right up your alley! Have you thought about a "restance soldering tool"? They're a little pricey through Micro Mark, but worth it when soldering intricate parts. thanks for the info about the Belgian Ales...I'll get a list once I get back to Houston...yummmm!

OK, thanks Augie. You must have found the best Basswood in the box, mine didn't look that good. that Hobbylite, loods like good stuff. I'll have to look for some. Hobby shops are hard to find around RV parks. And then there's the sander. You're gonna force me to have to get one aren't you.....

This looks really nice Andy, I wish I had room for something of this nature. I do have a unique piece of wood that I'll probably mount the Conny along side my Morgan on the same piece.....rustic and open will be the concept. I eally think this looks very respectable.

Hi Pete, glad to see your exhaust pieces worked out. That wood is soft enough to allow for that kind of twist with the right leverage which it seems you found. good job. Sorry about the hinges.....paper sometimes just won't lie right.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
