  1. I was thinking the same thing. Shouldnt the shrouds be one of the first things to assemble before adding everything on top?
  2. Thanks för the update. That will be one of The more interesting buildlog för this whole forum. My heart wants you to work quicker so it can be released next week.... but my brain tells me i Will likely not be able to take on a larger project for several years due to what i am already building 😛
  3. I did start with the 2nd planking from the bottom just to see how it will look like with Tanganyika. Its abit different to work with this Wood. I will paint this White in the end so i can still change my mind. So should I continue with this?
  4. Thanks, first time I do this. Its not perfect but i am ok with the result.
  5. Still have some finetuning to do, but next is to start the deck planking.
  6. Decided to cut this board in two pieces to make it easier to handle. My new Proxxon table saw made it very easy. However, while one of the sides fitted perfectly, the other one didnt line up... should i be worried about the hull not being straight?
  7. Time to take the final decision on going with Walnut or Tanganyika for the 2nd planking....?
  8. Done! Its abit messy with CA all over the place. Any suggestions on how to clean it?
  9. Your buildlog is a great inspiration for me!
  10. Thanks, yes I bought a used issue form Amazon UK... but unfortunately it was shipped from US and took a very long time to get. I also had to pay extra because of coming from the outside of EU. My AOTS Diana was much easier and cheaper to get. I Think I will try to get the Bellona issue at one point as well.
  11. Lower deck finished... this will basically not be seen when the model is completed but Good to see how the supplied mtrl looks like. I have bought my own maple for the next deck.
  12. Unfortunately, the inner bulwark patterns didnt fully match up with outer gunport patterns, so i cut them into several pieces before glueing them in place. I hope this works.
  13. First I hated it... but then it turned out to be some kind of therapy 😛
  14. First step done... there are a few spare parts in the kit if you mess up but i didnt need them.
  15. Taking a break from the coppering of my Snake and doing some details on my Granado. This was not easy.. made a jig but still very tricky to get everything in place.
  16. This is like running a Marathon... twice considering i have 2 sides to complete...
  17. If you want to do a very detailed and high quality model, my number one tip is to buy alot of sandpaper and really use it everywhere on every piece on every side and make sure perfect fits.
  18. Made quite a lot progress with my Snake the last days and are now into the copperphase. This will likely take some time but after that its time to do some really nice photos in my studio. Now it start to look like a ship!
  19. Considering its your first model, I wouldnt get stuck on extra details like that. Just follow the instructions and put the bulkheads into the frams and start the first layer of planking. You will learn as you go along and when you do your next kit you can start trying to raise the level of quality.
  20. The waterline will require som decision making again. Depending on where I place the ship in the stand the stern will go deeper and the waterline will change. So how deep should this be?
  21. This weekend has been focused on sanding and filing, getting the deck prepared for planking. You really need to put alot of work into getting this right and the question is what is "good enough"?.
  22. Cant wait to see the final result! Just a question, is this not upside down?
  23. I hope Chris dont mind me reposting one of his photos of the construction of the Amati Victory. In comparison with the 20 year old HMS Diana kit, just look how he have reinvented kitdesign. Yes I agree fully that the cutting out gunports are one of the tasks that would really benefit from being simplified.
