Thanks Jack. However, it doesn't make it any easier ... I still dunno what those bluenose ringlets look like in that size in comparison to the birch one's ... not much to compare ...

You are a real PE-master. I know the sizes and how fragile these Pontos parts are for the Yamato (got a box full of more or less the same) and it is stunning to see how you manage to put them into shape ... astonishing!!!
Best wishes, and a steady modeling hand for 2017
Cheers

It may comfort you that the builders of a full-size replica of the same period (see http://modelshipworld.com/index.php/topic/12395-replica-poltava-1712-russian-ship-of-the-line ) also used lamination for the internal planking in the bow, where curves are steep. And some outside curves as well.
So it is definitely not cheating!

Happy New Year to all of you, my friends!
Here is quite, some kind of winter vacations between 01-10 january. Courts do not work, people mainly do not work between New Year and Orthodox Cristmas ( jan. 07), so, even I want to work, I do not have nobady to work with or against.
Anyhow, Hothead is also at home those days, Princess has four free days, and we spend many nice moments together, playing wirh Rhea and meeting friends and relatives
Rhea is smart one. At today She has full three months, and already knows commands: No, left it, go out, sit, bring, come
First serious snow falls, and she is happy to the sky playing and running outside. For month and half She is with us, She doubled herself!
I found some time for me to continue my build, and first base for first boat is done. Four layers and a lot of hand works. And those beautifull smelt of sawdust after long time !

Carl thank you. Hopefully there will be more build time. Trying to be careful of what I ask for though, don't want "More build time" to equal unemployed!! I think I would be happy with a fair raise and a 40 hour work week with a few days here Nd there on O.T.
J. Sometimes I think if you look in Websters Dictionary you would find under Wooden Ship Modeling you would find something like "A mental disorder characterized by the masochistic need to constant rebuild parts regardless of the naked eyes ability to see the changes"

thanks J.........almost done with the faring. I should be planking soon.....I think the 1 mm planking will do just fine. I've been using it to gauge the faring process. I'm actually surprised that the admiral let me do it in the computer room! I use a drywall sander....hand operated, and going across the bulkheads creates quite a noise { I try and do three at a time, moving from bow to stern}. some of the squeaks and squawks were quite ear piercing. the admiral did voice her opinion about the noise........which made me sing verses to the old song 'it's cold outside' , and my impersonation of Bella lagosi's famous line in the classic 'Dracula'....."what beautiful music they make....". "no different than me play'in my bass dear", was my next great line before I got the "well....Hurry up!" "but dear.....you can't rush these things......it's like a fine wine"......or as Groucho would've said "I'm making fine wine.....an' she's got sour grapes!" the trick here is to keep talking......any psycho babble that comes to your head
she'll tone you out........and the noise follows as theories go, don'tcha know
in reality..........she's a good egg about my hobby. she reads her books at her computer while I work on the boats. I was going to move the Wharf into Kevin's old room, but she was afraid that she'd never see me, so here I stay. it's nice to have her company too
hope you had a great holiday as well

Thanks J! I missed this somehow.
Still working 6+ days a week so NOTHING has been accomplished build-wise. I get home, take care of daily chores and get to sit down about an hour before its time to go to bed and start all over again. Unless we decide to take on another rush job I should be back on a more humane schedule by mod Feb and can get back to building.
Until then, Happy New Year everybody,
Sam

Unfortunately I cant add to an order already submitted. Its protection for you and your CC's are deleted immediately after the order is finalized.
This is how the traveler ring looks after rigging it. The jibsail and foresail rigging is now completed. All that remains to rig are the two yards....once I make them. That will complete the rigging and then its the final stretch with a few additional details....anchors....flag....boarding ropes......and she is officially done.
