I dunno there has to be some sort of co-relative algorithm that links time vs knots and probability, keep in mind.. he's got another monster waiting, so the likelyhood of an episode will increase with every knot tied, length of time it takes to tie one knot, number of shrouds, the number of knots that come undone...... and... oh I just gave myself a headache...

Anyway.. Mobbise you better be ready to take in refugees.. there might be a lot of them...

I think we need to start a countdown clock here...

Estimate the time to remaining before Sjors gets totally driven nuts by ratlines... although at the moment he seems to be evading the task at hand

    Hello everybody,

    My second interview is over.
Today Sodexo presented me with additional information and my new contract, which I have to check before I sign it of course.
I may stay in my current job and I am ready to start my new career with Sodexo.

Thank you all for your wishes and positive thoughts.

    Take care,

thanks everyone.........it's an excellent idea Andy....thank you!   I'm going to try making a slatted one.....I agree.  I even have a couple of extra hinges left over.  I can either leave it extended {so I can do a bit more brass work},  or make it folded up......I'llhave to toy with it to see what would be best.  my jaw dropped dude,  when I saw it......sso cool!

the spindles for the railings,  Keith,  are Billing's answer for eye bolts.   in a lot of their kits, instead of the normal rounded eye bolts that we all know,   they have ....to put it simply.......stubby pegs with a hole through it.   they don't look like eye bolts at all,  but I have found uses for them.   I have some other different stanchions...different heights.  note that the inner ones are a bit higher than the outer ones.....I have some taller than that.  but these serve the purpose very well for what they do.   I have to get some more now.....for when I get back to the trawler Syborn.....I'm starting to run low

again,  I want to thank everyone for your kind comments.....I guess I can't call this boat,  my mistake,  any more.   I was thinking about it the other day,  while I was working on her.........I wondered if this was the biggest  'boo boo' than anyones ever recovered from.  the misstrung line......the malshapen fitting......I think it's quite funny that I did it to an entire boat.  I'm so glad I chose to go this route

I don't believe I posted the results of the gauge panels.......they are installed on the boats

here is the panel for the Denny-Zen...........

and the panel for the Phylly C.

If at first you don't succeed... try, try, try......try.....try............**** it, go and get drunk.

    Isn't that how it goes?

Lessons learned are still progress.. even though it may not feel like it.

Thanks Mark and John - your encouragement is always appreciated.

Thanks Kevin - you're not really that far behind me.  As I read somewhere else (I think it was Andy [realworkingsailor] who said it), "string is in the air".  You'll be in amongst the ratlines before you know it mate!     As far as info from MSW 1.0 being lost, at least with your kit you have the excellent example of Gil Middleton's build to follow and I'm sure he'd be only too happy to flag any particular issues he's found for you.

Doesn't matter where they are.. without a s#!t load of money (like millions upon millions of $$) and government support, it's hard to keep these relics of the past. Britain does it much better, where they provide funding through their National Lottery to keep historic sites, machinery, and ships open to the public.

And I think making canonballs may be a violation under the "Anja" convention....

I'm still keeping in touch.. been in Thunder Bay since yesterday noon (EDT). I'm relegated to working on 1:1 ships for the time being. I'll try and restart my old "Andy's Maritime Adventures" Thread from MSW 1.0 (with photos, of course)

It's one thing to stick your nose out the door and go "*sniff* Hmmm cold out..." and the retreat back inside.. Try having to clear frozen sounding pipes, valves and other plumbing work, when the contents of said plumbing would prefer not to exist in a liquid state... Oh yeah... Did I mention that at the same time you yourself has also been forced to endure said frigid temperatures for several hours and most likely due to the aforementioned issues are also soaked to the skin (yet the outer layers of your clothing has begun to freeze)....

it quite possible Sarah.......they like to eat as well.   when my son and I were climbing on those rocks at low tide,  there were way too many for us to gather them all.   we even caught a crab.......but a seagull took it away from us.  we watched it pick it up and fly over the rocks.  he dropped it,  and it broke it's shell.........the gull then landed and ate it!   so cool!

thanks Michael....I guess the answer to your question is the same as Sarah's......but yea......they do get around.  they're just out looking for food.

I have to work tomorrow.......it's very late for me.........a huge thank you to every one else who commented....I really appreciate the good words.  even 'I' am impressed with how it came out     there are still a couple more thing i want to do,  and then it will be finished.  the Phylly C won't take much to finish her......and then I can finish the AmericA build.     the Goth is waiting.   thanks again!

I wouldn't call her "unloved"..... She's got lots of character, and she looks ready to put in a hard day's work. That's how they look in real life... While some of us prefer that "new boat smell" fresh out of the showroom, it's nice to see a few with some "dings" and scuffs.

    Good day folks,

Well, what can be said other than that it is so sad that all the beautiful input has been lost from this site. There were so many wonderful models and a wealth of information for all to share. Now is the time for us all to rebuild the site together.

Today I will just post a photo of the stern of the Sovereign as she sits today while I consider if it is possible to revive the log as it previously was.

    More to folllow...........

    Regards,
    Bill
