  1. Where do I buy a pin pusher in the US along with the pins? I cannot drill small holes in the frames with a pin vise drill.
  2. Can you tell me where to get the pin pusher and the pins for it.
  3. Where do you get the pin pusher? I have the pin vise but it will not drill into the plywood frames.
  4. Where do you get a pin pusher in the US? I was trying to drill a 1 mm hole in a frame and the wood is too hard for the small hand pin drill.
  5. Well here I am back again after a variety of miscues and disaster recoveries. I have learned a lot from the various sites here but the biggest thing is the interpretation of the instructions. So far I think the kit is fine. I did review everything from start to finish but the very first instruction refers to a non-existent table. But I think it is still me and my lack of experience. At any rate after gluing some parts and then taking them apart again with hot water I hope I am going to get wise to this process. While I was supposed to plank the stern first, my mistake had me gluing the stern beam on again so I moved on to planking the quarterdeck. I did it in 3 stages mainly because the glue would dry ahead of me. But also because I could not cut the side pieces until the center area was glued. I used carpenters glue. When dry I cut the excess with sharp wire snips. Added a little I have tried to fix this page with respect to so many repeat pics but the harder I try the worse it gets. I notice it happens to others so I will accept it I tried to put this in above but it did not come out correctly.
  6. This is not really the forum for such talk but, mate, I feel bad about Australia and its fires. Australia has such an amazing contrasts in nature. While I realize the history of Australia has been full of such tumultuous natural occurrences why now? My best to all down there.
  7. I am happy you told me about this site. I will be spending a lot of time here. Thanks for telling me.
  8. I have used coutour tools for tiles. Makes sense for this application. I have one of these deep in my tool box.
  9. Seems silly but I have looked everywhere trying to find a way to add a second page to my log. Does it just happen after adding a zillion pics or is there a way.
  10. Haha I was named Robert Emmet for the famous Irish Patriot. You must be looking for a aardvark.
  11. You constantly have me looking up terms-chesstree contains a sheave for the mainsail
  12. Looks good. I will spend some time with this at another point
  13. I agree. I am in the process of making sure my tools and materials are kept ready to move. We use cases for clothes and other stuff. A major thing is that many tools I may use I have to be sure I take them to theother houses. I often duplicate but this ship thing sis a whole 'nother ball game. I leave for Florida in two weeks.

I notice it happens to others so I will accept it. So your handle is vossy. I just took a look at the build on the Riverboat. Make sure you read my mistake about the "bulwark posts" which are really frame tips to be removed later in build.
  15. What I am calling bulwark posts are really frame tips that will be removed later in the build.
  16. OK I will put them back in. I was afraid of confusing someone.
  17. Here I am. I had wondered about the top of the stern. So far I have only put the frames on. I am waiting until I understand the whole build at least until I feel I am not going into muddy waters. I can see from the build that you have run the planks right on back covering this cut piece
  18. There you go. I have been trying to understand the entire project and by reaching out abut something that was bugging me I got an answer that I was just coming on to talk about. What I thought were bulwark posts are supposed to be cut out later as suggested by Igorsu. I was looking at the drawing and did not realize at the time that I was looking at poppets which are put in on top of a stringer which goes on top of the hull deck. Interestingly enough Amati instructions say to do the quarter deck first. I will take your suggestion and go look at your log. Actually I had looked at it but I was at an early stage in planning. I still need to spend more time studying the instructions ans at the same time looking at the La Nina log. Thanks for your input. I am going to edit out those pics which did stimulate some input.
  19. I should add I was looking for your Santa Maria post and did not see your name. I saw a couple of Mantua builds.
  20. I wanted to be sure that you know that I have chosen to build the Nina with a 1:64 ratio. My build is being posted. I am still intent, however, to build a big Victory.
  21. Thanks It seems in this case Amati wants you to cut the slots. I have seen it done otherwise but it seems to me it makes sense to cut out the slots.
  22. Thank you
  23. Thanks I am concerned about the placement of the upper deck. Do you think it is correct to cut out slots so that it fits down on the frames?
  24. Thanks for the greeting. Not long ago I lost a dear friend from Brisbane. We had wonderful times exchanging views on so many topics. I have met other Aussies and have visited there as well. My contacts with those from Oz were always enjoyable. Have a great year
