  4. Good idea Bill, lets bring some "life and gunsmoke" to the forum.... Nils
  5. Hi Denis, Thank you for your appreciative words, that sounds great if you`ll be starting a populated model, I`ll be pleased to help where ever necessary, and following along.... (if you would need help) Here a figurine I found on a British web site by coincidence, and its scale 1:48 as well .... Painting is in progress...., arms with sword and pistol will be added after painting Nils
  6. Hi Hakan, am pleased you like the little figures, they were not so easy to find in scale 1:48...... (not to be taken seriously..) The captain is the father in Law of J. Sparrow, and he decided to settle down away from the warm Carribian blue waters on his old days, he is now making the North African / mediteranian "Barbary Coast" quite unsafe with his "multy culty" crew. He has a brand new Chebec under his command, this ship is leased from his pal, Abdul, a merchant, who ordered the ship from the Algerian yard recently... Nils
  7. Patrick and Dave, many thanks for your kind words, much appreciated... Nils
  8. small update : did some more painting this morning..... in the "pirate mode", here is in scale 1:48 the handicaped one eyed, peg-legged corsair capt. pointing out to his mate, where to hide the treasure chest safely below deck... Nils
  9. Thank you very much Piet, nice to have you on board, enjoy the updates as they come... Nils
  10. Hi Richard, to date all my models have population, I also feel a model without any crew figurines would look too static.... Nils
  11. little update : some of the 1:48 scale crew members will be of "multy culty" mix of mediteranian nations and "stranded" individuals..... I had been gathering these cast figures long time already and managed to give them a paint touch now... The chimney-tube of the stove (under the quarter deck) has been installed now, may be a bit unusual, but why not Nils
  12. Piet, thank you so much for being a steady interested viewer to the log, and for your kind comments... Nils
  13. Very nice handcraft shipbuilding work, I like the deck planking... Nils
  14. Thanks for your remarks Keith and Mark, probably nobody knows how many brave sailors fell in "freindly fire" from those guns since the ships had been fitted out with swivel guns... Nils
  15. Update : light guns mounted to the quarter deck balustrade and the bulwarks.... Nils
  16. Many thanks to Hartmut and Richard, for your kind words... Also thanks to all the "likes"... Hartmut, I`m pleased to hear that your surgery went well, and that you are back on deck again, I`m already curious about your new project (Golden Hind) you mentioned in your "Utrecht" log... Richard, yes, it was funny, but I first saw the the mistake when looking at a picture and it "cribbled down my spine", how come I did`nt see that before ?... Nils
  17. Antony, thank you very much for your appreciative words... am pleased you like it Nils
  18. Hi Carl, yes, I`m glad I went for scale 1:48 its a very nice scale for details adding details, and its fun on top of it.... I`m trying on the first sample of the swivel gun and its mounting post this morning Nils this is one of the smallest RB barrels with predrilled pivot- and center hole. The soldering hole for the handle must still be brought in to the barrel the semi round support is made from a brass tube... I`ll probably blacken the guns with dull black gun color paint
  19. Thank you very much Denis, I`m pleased you like it... when reviewing my own pics, I noticed that one of the anchor cables was laid wrong in wrong direction on to the spill. ... The corrective action was quite fiddely this afternoon, I had to untie the counter stopper knot from under the grating in the bow deck. With help of a hook-like bent wire finally I got hold of the short cable end behind the stopper knot, under deck and through the fore mast deck hole, loosened it and so could rigg the anchor cable correctly without installing a new cable. I actually wanted to start with the 6 swivel guns mounted on posts today, but now have to shift that action to a later point this week.... Nils
  20. Thank you for your kind comments Don and Bob, very much appreciated.... Nils
