  1. Hi Jeff, I have the hooks from this web-shop.... (20 per pack) https://www.voltmaster.de/KRICK-61535-haken-6-mm-messing-geaetzt-ve20 regards, Nils
  2. Danny, congratulations on this masterly and awesome built battle ship. Its so well built that surely the card kit supplier should be interested to ask for permission to use photos... are you intending to do a diorama of the two battleships, when the Hood is also completed ? Nils
  3. update: made the remaining 14 tackles for the stb. side 7 gun carriages.... This is quite fiddely work with the tiny sheave-holes of those 3mm double sheave blocks, and its quite tme consuming The port side guns are already completely rigged Nils
  4. Hi Martin, nice to see the progress, even if in little tip, toe bites, but its moving. If I understood right, you are now retired. Thats fine, hardly any stress and enjoying life (hopefully). I`m meantime 70 years and as B.E. is saying there has not been any looking back... Wish you all the best and much fun with the hobby.... Nils
  5. Many thanks Keith and Piet, and to all the "likes"... Keith, am pleased you like it... Piet, I`ll need to leave away the one or other crew member due to limited space... Nils
  6. right so Antony.... go for the beauty of natural wood, I support that.. Nils
  7. smile... so it is Antony...., and I first thought those gun carriages would be a little small for 1:48 scale. I even want to insert the sweeps on the stb. side, now how would that work out place wise ? Thanks for your words.. Nils
  8. update... rigging the guns procedure has now become routine....., I found a way to get the 3 mm blocks harnessed into the tackle rope without too much distortion... The guns will be presented in 3 modes... - ready for a broad side - in retracted position for barrel wiping out/cleaning and reloading, at maximum extention of the breech ropes - in secured position (non battle) with decore lids (closed) in the bulwarks Nils maximum extention of the breech ropes guns situated between the gratings... work desk somewhat crowded...
  9. Hi Antony, congrats to your new and good looking project. Looks like you had a good start with those clean laser cut ply parts. The scale 1:45 is a nice medium scale to work in. Wish you much fun and success with the pirate junk, will follow with great interest. Nils
  10. Hi Parick and Karl, many thanks for your comments, Patrick, thank you for your kind words, much appreciated.... Karl, thanks for looking in first time and for the sample pictures, welcome to the build log.... no worry, the carriage wheel tracks are designed to fit well between the gratings. I should have centered it a bit better before taking the pic, on the other hand the "Le Requin" was in actual longer than the model I`m building, so there will be more generous spacings between the grating, no question..... Nils
  11. Thank you very much John, Hartmut and Christos, for your appreciative words, I`m very pleased you like it. The rigging of all remaining 13 canons will take some days..... Also many thanks to all the "likes" who called in recently.... Nils
  12. update... the port side gun-barrels are tied up and secured under the bulwark cap plank (not in the battle mode) Nils
  13. small update: meanwhile getting the 14 guns rigged. The breech ropes are 1,2 mm and the tackle is 0,4mm diam. The three mm double sheave tackle blocks are a real fiddely affaire... Nils
  14. awesome work Doris, thanks for the link to your "main forum"......., it looks like we are witnessing this project (HMS Royal Katherine) to become your ultimate master piece... Nils
  15. Wunderbar Keith !! the pics and the build, a real treat to look at... Nils
  16. Wonderful "Ironwork" Ed. your rigging of the yards looks very authentic as well as the leading of the ropes, right down to the belaying points.... Nils
  17. thank you very much Hans, you`re very welcome and thanks for joining in. I had a look at the dutch Modelbauforum (out of your signiture`s link), many thanks Greetings to Eindhoven Nils
