Channels and other fitting - here I mainly use wood to achieve high solidity.

The lanterns on the stern were made of cardboard and thick foils,  included plenty of hand made ornaments from modeling clay/I use Czech product Modelit/Modurit for all decorations on my the model. I have decided to create a different shape of lanterns ( in comparison with Vale´s painting). I have found inspiration in Sailmaker painting of The Royal Katherine and other similar ships from that period.

Thank you for these recent comments - Nils, Kortes, Svein Erik, Micheal and Clipperfan.  Seems like a while since I have been in touch on the forum since the model was completed in May.  Spent quite a bit of time on the third volume this summer and I believe it is soon to be out.  For those of you who got the Seawatch ad insert in the last NRG  journal issue, the book is featured.  In addition to the features listed in the ad there are also 13 printed drawings in 1:96 and 1:72 scale.  These were not mentioned in the ad.

    Cheers all,

    9.2. Finishing the rudder
To make the rudder a bit more fancy I will add some 'Prinswerk' on it. 'Prinswerk' (Prince work) is often seen on traditional Dutch vessels which are decorated with a strip of orange, blue and white triangles. With my apologizes for our Dutch friends, I will not use the Dutch orange, blue, white but instead the Belgian colors because my boat is sailing under Belgian flag.

Starting with taping the bottom strip.

I start to paint the yellow triangles...

    ... then the red ...

The bottom strip is painted. It is quickly explained here in a few words, but in reality it is very much time consuming because each color must be fully dried before it can be re-taped for the next color.

Taking a look how it is presenting on the transom before starting with the upper strip.

The process is repeating: taping, painting, waiting until it's dry, removing the tape, re-taping, painting next color, ...

And finally the 'Prince work' is ready.

Fixing the rudder to the model.

    Very nice build Peta,

I love those natural warm wooden tones, and in contrast the black color giving in the shown places.

the construction of the main dekk cabin is on its way , for this i use evegreen styro yust the main dekk cabin,
wood vil be used for the topp dekk construction.
at the rear you can se the 2 sleeping quaters and a sallon and the doors opening .
later i wil glue some wood panels etc on the wall, beds ,table etc....
at the aft i wil do the same.
the hole construction is loos and not glued on the ship.
i markt the windows , doors etc so i need to take this out to.
the main dekk construction wil get simulated rivvits using the same metod i did with the hull (thats because this part was made of steel plates.
    the topp dekk was wood.

Placing the largest guns  "cannon-of-seven" in the hull.

The carriages were placed into the hull separately and then I added cannon barrels to them. It is possible to move and set them as necessary.
