Just goes to prove my theory..... Models should to be treated as ladies, it's easier to understand them that way, there are some where you have to go back time after time for more, those you got to tease and tease the beauty out of, those that are just simply there for you, those who have to be shown who's boss, and finally those that wind up in divorce/judgment/cemetery. (shelf of doom/trash can/binned) Looks to me like you have her well in hand..... {chuckle} -

They have special requirements, that's why I call them ladies, you have to tease the beauty out of them before they satisfy.... A reminder that everything good requires effort.... That's what makes them special, when done, and done well like we see here, means you have actually accomplished something...... EG -

I know that my friend, I'm suffering from the type of car. There is no door hardware except for a pull latch much like those on cars today. The dash has two oval gauges, a speedo and clock, the rest are arc type meter gauges and the gas gauge is a bubble vial type that actually had live fuel in it.... There is no aftermarket for them as there is none for this model.... One of the reasons it's been on the shelf for so long.... As has the V-16 cabriolet.... OOB is pretty much what you get with one of these.... Very Very nice roadster my friend, she looks much better with a full suit of clothes and jewelry, ready to prowl the town...... Great Job..... Gonna be a stunner when finished.... -

I do suspect that when your done restoring that honey, it's going to come with the 28 point dealer inspection certificate, correct? That is so beautiful it ought to.... I have to keep reminding myself your working on a model, not a real car...... Absolutely fantastic work.... -

Our pleasure.... it was a fun build. Barris did some great stuff.... what you really need now is Grandpa pulling up in Dragula..... You stay safe as well my friend....

You have a cupboard? capable of storing models? here across the pond we call that a closet...... have you given consideration into turning it into a mini modeling center? back when I was living in smaller digs I had one.... when the door was open for a modeling session I had a foldable table that fit within the opening to use as a build center and all spraying was done in the confines of the closet. I hung newsprint on the walls to prevent overspray damage, and when I had to leave something to dry/cure I could close the door on it so the admiralty here would not get annoyed..... (if there is no door you could hang a curtain across the opening, consult the admiral as to style and such would be a good way to get her approval/cooperation) Best of both worlds I would say....

Revell Tie fighter - 1:110 by Fnick (Finished)

No he referring to the surface the two different lacquers put on a finish, Matt Lacquer is designed to break up a smooth surface so it doesn't reflect light, where gloss lacquer is designed to smooth a surface so it reflects as much light as possible.... What he's contemplating is spraying the dry matt lacquer with high gloss lacquer nd see if correcting the finish will allow light to pass... I've heard of this before but I think it depends on which lacquer formulations were used... Lacquer from 30 years ago (true lacquer) crazes clear surfaces, that is unrecoverable. The current crop of Lacquers are not chemically true lacquers, but they act like them.... you might be able to restore it by recovering with the correct lacquer, or even stripping and removal of the lacquer...... At this point being covered with matt, it doesn't look right and never will... another option is if the kit is a round two model, and is in current production, you can get the replacement part fairly easily...... I hope this explanation helps you come to a resolution.... Other than your question on the finished windows, Beautiful model... nice work... -

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
