  1. Thank you guys! Ulises, I love your Wasa, you have done a very professional build up of her. Buck, it started to rain just as I had taken that pic, and I had to grab her and run inside. /Matti
  2. What a nice Wasa Ulises! It looks nice in Blue n gold. Looking forward to see more. /Matti
  3. Im not really sure about those, but thanks for the effort! /Matti
  4. Thanks Lawrence! I was gonna stain her, but I went by the local hobby shop and he is moving so he had below half the price. He have a good sortiment of planks. I couldnt help myself from buying a big pile of planks of all sorts and will double plank her, probably with darker planks. Im experimenting with the planks as we speak and will post an update later on. /Matti
  5. Great work on the vocabulary Sjors! Now I need to learn them in swedish also. /Matti Edit: It would be great to have that as a stickie for us new and not speaking english.
  6. Really nice work! I see alot of the original construction in your details. Theres a lot of work to get those inside walls of the bullwark to look like that. I like the weather deck planking also. Very realistic! /Matti
  7. That would have been awesome Jan! And afterwards have a beer or two and discuss Vasa modelling. Yeah, good point. I think there are a lot of creative choises and preferences involved also, and that makes it very interesting to look at different builds. Finished the gunports and wales on the ports side. I will add the top wale/list later on since its painted and I want it to look sharp. So now Ill start over again on the starboard side. I think it will be a bit quicker as Ive got the hang of what to do and I dont have to look at reference as much. /Matti
  8. Thank you Buck and Tony! Yeah, Im going to Stockholm next week, and I will take my kids to see her. Everything about that museum is excellent, and I will get a chance to get inspiration and take more pics. If you need something covered let me know in the next days. I dont think any kit correct gunports and shutters. Its hard not to see once youve noticed it. If one likes idealized models, then Im sure it looks wrong this way. But its the way they were built and I love that look. /Matti
  9. Thanks buddy, your comments means alot! Ive been reworking the lower gunports, basically making them slightly bigger, as the original has smaller gunports on the upper deck. The individual gunports also differ in size, and I tried to imitate that as good as I could. Finally the gun ports also differ from side to side of her, but Ill try to deal with that when starting on the starboard side. One problem I might get doing it like this, is that the BB kit comes with one size gunport shutter only. I hope that it will not be to mush of a problem. Time will tell. I have also glued the bow end planks in place in order to glue the top wales in place. Now I can start reworking the upper gunports. /Matti
  10. Hey, thanks! Well we had to try something against that awesome cavalry of yours. /Matti
  11. Thanks you Mikhail! Ive been reading your build thread and its very inspirational! /Matti
  12. Here is a side by side with the 1/10. I love the wonky look of those gunports, but I find it tricky to get the shape and placemenet of them right. /Matti
  13. Lawrence, ooops, I didnt mean that I went away, Im just free from work. Holiday is the word? Sorry for the confusion. Mikhail, thanks for making your first post in my thread, and dont worry about your english. Thats one great Vasa you are building!!! Love the details and your sculpting looks awesome! Very, very nice and inspiring: http://www.shipmodeling.ru/phpbb/download/file.php?id=49041&mode=view I hope you plan to make a thread about it here also! I made some progress on the wales. I need to reshape the gunports some more. /Matti
  14. Im quite nervous about starting the top rails also... /Matti
  15. Thanks Alex and Brian! Ive been away for a conferece with the job, but now its finally vacation and more time to build! /Matti
  16. Thanks Mark! I just looked at the suport pieces and they do overlap the breaking points, and are as thick as the broken piece. Hopefully it will work out well. /Matti
  17. Thanks guys! Making a brass core looks like a valid idea. In my case the break was not straight and the sandwich layers alloved me to make a pretty strong glue point where the parts meet. I will see how strong it feels tomorrow, but my hopes are up. Luckily there will be four parts supporting this area later on. Here is picture of how the real ship is constructed, and BB is pretty close. I think I might be able to reinforce the weak spot even further. Ill post more about it when I get there. Thanks for all kind words, gents! /Matti
