I believe this will help you, if the kits are almost identical.

Thanks for your reply. I already have this one. There are some differences between them. I will use the 1/220 manual as a guideline for the colours.

It looks like the 1/220 version has more parts and detailing compared to it's bigger sister.

  2. The second project I will start next to the 1/225 Revell HMS Victory is the 24" Clipper Thermopylae.

A simplified kit from the 60's. It is the same kit as the 24" Clipper Cutty Sark, with a few parts made for this model.

It will not be a very accurate build, but I will make the best I can of it.

A few pictures of the kit and it's content:

The only things missing are the instructions and the paper sheet with the flags on it.

Is there anyone who has this kit in his/her stash, who is able and willing to send these as a PDF or scans in A4 format to me?

  3. Finaly some progress made.

The anchors are placed, the rudders on the sloops are placed.

Also the davits are removed, because they were added to the ship somewhere around 1822.

I try to make it as realistic as I,m able to on this scale.

  4. Here some photo's of my progress thusfar. I started this kit due to the book Batavia by Peter Fitzsimons.

My wife had started it, but has stopped the project. She was not patient enough to continue. All the flash on this kit and the fit of the parts discouraged her.

So after reding the book I had the urge to build a sailing ship. The only choise I had was this one. So I disassembled all my wife had assembled and started the kit all over.

I have made some progress after the steps you see on the photo's, but haven't made pictures of it yet.

This is my first ship build, but I hope you all like it.

On this moment I'm in the middle of a move, so the coming weeks I will be working on that.  But I hope to continue this build very soon.

  5. Hello everyone.

My name is Daniël age 43 from the Netherlands.

I'm used to build WWII airplanes, but a long time ago my wife purchased the 1/225 Revell H.M.S. Victory. She started the kit, but due to it's age (1959) it wasn't falling together by it self. So she quit.

A year ago i was reading the book Batavia by Peter Fitzsimons during my vacation. Somehow since that book I wanted to build a ship. So when we came home I pulled the Victory from the stash and started to disassemble everything my wife assembled. I'm building it in it's "new" colours. Like the original has got now.

In the mean time a few other kits magicaly were added to the stash.

A probably 1/120 scale Cutty Sark and the Clipper Thermopylae around 1/130 scale. Both kits are very basic and look almost the same and are 24" long.

The Batavia in 1/150 scale and a Spanish Galleon in 1/450 scale. All are Revell kits.

Now a question to the mods...

Is it alowed to start a log on a already started model? The Victory in my case.

If somebody wants to see pictures, just let me know.
