  1. Hi Joe, thanks for asking. I was looking at her last night and thinking it was time to get back to it. Last summer I moved to this new ( for me ) place. It took way longer than I thought it would to renovate but I now have a work room. Then this came in the mail today. Hope it’s not too much of a distraction 😀 I want to start on the staves running around the stern in the next couple of weeks.
  2. Hi Jacques, I could be mistaken but in one of the above pictures there seems to be a different type of material running along the ridge. Possibly for protection of thatch while working up there. Another boat has its sail (?) draped along the ridge. Something like this could aid in the snagging issues. Everything is looking great.
  3. Nils, what splendid work you have done. Another one of your creations where every time you look at it you see another story being told!
  4. Vladimir, congratulations on finishing Glory of the Seas. Beautifully done! Completing such a project must be like watching an old friend leave town. Looking forward to your next build.
  5. Dave, the results of your labor are beautiful! Your Sharpie looks so good on that stand. Congratulations on finishing!
  6. Chris, congratulations on finishing the Pup. Such a beautiful model and photos!
  7. Panteg, congratulations on finishing your Havmagen. You did a fantastic job. I’m ready for St Roch!
  8. KLarsen, congratulations on finishing your Santa Caterina. She and her rigging look exceptional!
  9. Bryan, congratulations on finishing the Sea of Galilee boat. There shall be four very happy grandkids!
  10. Seb, congratulations on finishing the Dinghy. Excellent work! Looking forward to the Jolly Boat.
  11. Hi Captn, I never had any fitment issues with my kit so I apologize if I steered you wrong. Good luck with your build. It was a lot of fun
  12. Hi Captn, this is how I went about attaching the stem. Managed not to break anything. The second part that is the same is a spare. I’m assuming because I still have that piece.
  13. Jeff, congratulations on finishing your longship. Beautiful work!
  14. Amazing model, amazing photos. Congratulations Chris!
  15. Hi Jacques, I think both stain and paint look equally as nice. On the Cargo Canoa maybe you could slide a slice of black wire insulation or something similar over the pin of the upper pintle to fill the gap. Everything is looking great
  16. Hi Jacques, I did the same as you. Started with a small drill bit and then enlarged the hole with a small round fill. It was easier to get a clean edge with the pear.
  17. Hi Jacques, everything is looking great. When building the Nordland Boat I had the same decisions to make on how to finish the inside of the plywood hull planking. It didn’t accept stain well at all. I ended up sealing the planks with a coat of Minwax wipe on poly . I then added some finely sanded pencil lead ,using a sanding block , to a small amount of wipe on poly. The poly turns black after a bit of stirring. When applied as a second coat and removing the excess, the planks had a grey look to them. At the time I described it as a mildewed look. Maybe there are other ways of tinting sealer. The fun is all in the experimenting
  18. Hi Elia, beautiful ship. If this were my case I think that I would try adding a dark colored board to the floor of the case so that it is flush with the tops of the bottom/horizontal pieces of the frame. It looks like there is enough clearance at the top.
