…as for K9; Officer Billy and, “the Kid” are sweeping the decks. While working, the Kid cannot be touched. But once underway and clear, Officer Billy will bring the Kid around to meet the passengers. The children love how the kid wears a badge too. Just a shout out to all of our K9 officers (dogs), our brethren, our family.

The moment you’ve all been waiting for!
I thought it was fitting that I ‘completed’ my, “Dignitary Visit Riverboat” on President’s Day. Maybe just a few odds-n-ends to tend to but for the most part, this build is wrapped up. I’m definitely going to build a case for this one as the details can’t support the dust ‘round these parts. I also need to reflect upon a good base as well, but that will come soon. So, stay tuned, just a little more to do before I close this one out. 😉
Much love goes out to the crew who followed me into these waters. Your comments are always well received. Thank you for your support along the way. 🙏 I know how many builds are going on on MSW, so I’m flattered that you were always around. I also would like to apologise for the long gaps. Life, family, work and a few broken bones stalled my progress.
Anyway, enjoy the VIP cruise! Maybe you’ll even get a photo or your book signed. Never know!
Edit: I’ll try to get some less cluttered photos up soon.

I had an "OH!" moment when I wondered if I had accounted for the 6 inches (152 mm) of rope I was using for these coils when I ordered the rope from Syren? I checked my rigging spreadsheet and I had allowed 7" (178 mm) for most of the rope coils, but only 3.5 inches (89 mm) for those that wouldn't need as many loops. So I was planning ahead. I should have over 100 inches (2.5 meters) excess rope for all the ropes used on the model! Whew!!”
That’s pretty good to be able to measure out your rope needs. I’m a habitual rope waster so don’t even try.

The smaller flags have been re-worked and scaled down a bit. I’m ok with this. Not much more I can really do with the paper. I’ve been through about 6 sets of flags by now and I’ve tried to add more detail but the paper just won’t take it; the flag either folds or splits between the layers. I believe the final product gets the point across though. It’s a moderately breezy day between 5 and 10 kts, with light chop on the river. Good to go.

If all works according to mental imagery, you’ll like the final product… I hope.

Oh yes, it will keep its shape for years. I have used that technique on a couple of models and they look like on the first day.

Thanks for the reply. I think this is the route that I’m going to take with my flags then.

It is looking really good. What is left?
Thank you.
Not a whole lot left but I have a couple of ideas that are in the works. 😉

The rope work is great. I nothing but trouble with the rigging (I failed trying to make the big knots).
Thank you, Cleat. It’s been a while since I’ve done any rigging like that so I won’t lie, I wasted some lines trying to make my fingers remember the process. It was frustrating but things started to come back to me.

This was my first build as well and I learned a lot from it; it’s a great primer for the larger models. Just be careful, it’s addictive. 😉
