  3. Very sweet it looks, Bob. Don`t let macro photos to discourage you. Look from distance, and you`ll get clear and right picture of your excellent work I am glad that you are moving on, and waiting to see cat-head tests (I am curious, that stage is waiting for me, and I enjoy in collecting ideas until that time). So, get those tests ! BTW, I missed your making of mooring pipes ... little explanation ?
  4. Today Hothead picked up his first screw in the tire of the rear wheel of the motorcycle, so considering transmission chain and brackets on rear wheel, it was pretty nice party to fix this before going to tire shop Princess went out tonight to go crazy with friends, and after that, usual evening Next 100 pieces on place on this rainy rainy rainy day And semi-new look of full profile
  5. Great news !!! Princess has just crossed her last exam with 10 (A) at University of Belgrade, Faculty of medicine Only preparation and defense of thesis left in September, and She will be a Doctor of medicine !!!!
  6. Thx friends ... just a little less than a half of one side ...Im very impatience and curious how will bow look like ...
  7. Challenge ... in my scale, this can be 3,4 max 4mm With 3 functional lathes ? Huh
  8. Bob First I apply little drop of glue to the desired place of hull, then pick up plate, and remove protetic paper foil with curved needle I made, using self-adhesive layer to attach plate to needle, drive it to the hull, place it, fix on right position ( glue is still soft and fresh, so zig-zag is easy) and with soft wet brush carefully remove excess of glue. If removing of foil do not make trouble, this lasts about 1 min more or less, on straight lines. When situation gets narrow, it takes little more time to make adequate narrowed part of line, manually One per minute with resting, smoking, Hmmm job, telephone and Admiral`s calls ... and my old eyes ... max 100-150 per two hours/one working day Good thing is that outer surface of plates is resistant to dirty fingers and to water ( easy to remove any dirt and water or glue trails), but must be covered with varnish at the end I think that foil can be find in USA, as self-adhesive decorative paper, foil, or something similar in paper store, woman hobby store, painting supply store etc In Belgrade, this can be found in artistic shops as decorative self-adhesive paper, foil, wallpaper (?) cut and sell in pieces apx. 50-40 cmm as on picture above, on price about 1$. It is "named" as "gold" foil
  9. Thx Geoff Bob, as any self-confident fool, I started with each one individually, and called to mind after couple of hundred of them ... never late BTW, very interesting material I am working with. It is plastic foil with metal color, but, under riveting jig and under needle, it acts and look as real tiny metal plates. Even has some thickness to look like metal plates when glued and placed. It has self-adhesive coat, and adding strong fast-drying glue for wood works excellent. As I wrote earlier, it shows some sensitivity for outside scratching, but I think that acrylic mat varnish in couple of layers will resolve this "problem", in cooperation with new softer working stand for Her I must make before finishing coopering
  10. Scott, I do not know what to say. I am convinced that in western democracies, described situation is rather exception than a general rule. Here, this is a general rule. But, enough talking about semi-politic, let`s return to Her, She cries and laments that he neglected ... and She is right Yesterday I was inspired to keep on gluing plates, but there was no plates made. Today I was not inspired to glue anything, but want to do something with hands So, I opened factory in kitchen (miraculously Admiral said nothing), and during chat with Hothead, process started at 18h and finished at 21h First, drawing Then riveting Then cutting First 200 pieces 200+200 = 400 400+200= 600 Some of them have mistakes, and them will be thrown away during gluing Just enough for today, I am going to join Admiral in live room to watch something on TV
  11. Very nice test, Bob. You are reading my mind, again when I think about further steps. What do you think about little "add" to spice this little beast a while ? If my draw is not understand, tell me to draw better N
  12. Edwin, strike ended, court season ended, but problems remained and delayed until September. Problems are structural, and cause for strike is collateral consequence of this structural problems. At first, main role of advocacy is not to by your freedom or something - main role of advocacy is to seek and ensure respect for the rules of the legal system. When in one particularly case, you have 3-4 of only 15-30 min lasting court hearings per year, 2-3 of them are delayed from some reason ( judge illness, disorderlly call for parties, and you have, if you have lucky, only one court hearing per year on which something happened in direction to resolve case. So, trials last 3-5-7 years in first instance. Appellation process takes 3-5 years, and rarely finished by meritorious final decision, rather with annulment of whole process and starting over for another 3-5-7 years. And when you finally have meritorious decision, you have to wait 1-2 year for executive process. I am not joking. Oldest court case I have started in 1995. year .... Consequences are: disastrous weakening of general social discipline (no one goes to court to get his rights, rather chose another way), reduced need for preventive legal services (why, to hell, to pay that if must wait so long for justice), and general vilification and contempt of the legal profession and the need for knowledge of the law. Government do not want to see this, in intend to do what mighty politicians want to do below, under or beside law. And that is real cancer Add to this next statement to get brighter picture: In countries with business tradition, overall public opinion unanimously supports and protects private property, gaining and preservation of property, so did all the courts in that countries. In Serbia, while another countries developed their industry from XVI century until now, there were Turkish occupation, WWI and WWII, socialism ... and only last 20-25 years you can do your own business. Without no respect for the law (what state benevolent watching, especially if you donate a leading political party), there were people who had a very short time acquired wealth. And now everyone thinks it is possible, and the absence of a legal system that allows. Next consequences: drastic impoverishment of the people and the economy, with consequence for honest advocacy which members do not want to get into politic - reducing number of clients who can pay for attorney, even the average price of the court hearing is only 50-100€, attorney working hour about 25-50€ if you are lucky. So, the average year and month attorney incomes reduces from month to month, from year to year, and this year Government raised our taxes to the sky without any economic reason, and opposite to the existing regulations. Attorney Chamber in strike succeed to stop tax rising, but above mentioned problem stayed, and in my opinion, this is heart of problem and main goal for government - make us ambiance to work and to earn, so this will be good for all But, who listen to me ?
  13. Bob ... Are you putting in 16-hour days on the coppering? Optical illusion, Bob ... macro photos, only about 1/4 of one side is done. I can not work more than 2-3 hours continuously because my eyes start to make problems with carefully removing protective foil from this pieces 4x10 mm with needle, and positioning of plates on their exact place ( particularly with narrow gore strakes ends). Some speed up come with little change in preparing plates - first draw 100-200 of them in back of tape, then rivet them carefully with ruler and my new jig, then carefully cut all of them, and after 15-20 minutes, you have 200 pieces ready for glue, and process starts and go relative fast until need for new gore strake appeared. Then light a cigarette, said some Hmmm, and continue until ....
  14. Very hot welcome to the "Cutty Sark fleet" on MSW, Gyula, and thank for your kind words. As you just said, this log grows and grows much faster than a build, and even for me it is sometimes hard to find particular post or picture. I am just thinking about how to set some type of content for this book. That is reason why I paint letters in my posts in brown (to fasten research) I cant wait for your log. Hurry with opening, and then slow with working Anyhow, good luck with your build, and it is really nice to have more Cutty Sark here.
  15. The current political atmosphere can not let me down. Problem is in missing perspective, and no sign in Government of real understanding and will to get things better. Shortsighted moves, narrow party political interests above any other main strategy goal. One of these days I`ll explain wider what I mean. For instance, if you have ill teeth, you pull it out or heal it. You do not spend all your money ( which you do not have) for sedative. As a residue of socialistic madness, there is steel factory in Smederevo, in the middle of agricultural plains ... No sources of iron ore in Serbia, and THIS thing never could, and never can work with any profit. This THING has 5000 workers, and capacity for 2.000.000 tons of iron per year. Every year, THIS THING eat about 100.000.000€ from state budget ... And on same way more than 50 years ... Instead to lead this mastodon in bankruptcy, Government fill it with enormous money - WHY ??? And continuously Government last 10-15 years spread lies about finding strategic partner ... sell and bye for 1$ and such rubbish. and money from our pockets, flow, flow, flow. How do you can call this, except - idiotic ? Feeble-minded ? Irresponsible ? Not the only example
  16. When my eyes second time dropped under work desk, She told me that is enough for today
