Jim Lad got a reaction from FriedClams in Cangarda 1901 by KeithAug - Scale 1:24 - Steam Yacht
Keith, I've had cataract surgery on both eyes. Nothing to it and the improvement in my sight is nothing short of amazing.

Jim Lad got a reaction from Javelin in Chaconia by Javelin - 1/100 - RADIO - LPG Tanker
A good honest workhorse and well worth modelling - especially if she's one of your old ships.

Jim Lad got a reaction from mtaylor in ERGENSTRASSE by Mirabell61 - FINISHED - 1:87 - steamship
Works well, Nils. many ships had hinged steel plates over the freeing ports that clanged annoyingly when the ship was rolling heavily.

Jim Lad reacted to Mirabell61 in ERGENSTRASSE by Mirabell61 - FINISHED - 1:87 - steamship
thank you John,
Andy already mentioned what you said, and I also have these hinged steel plates over the outside bulwarks fitted on my tallships . Those tallships used to have large amounts of overcoming sea on the lee side when sailing hard braced in strong winds.
The Corsicana aka Ergenstrasse only had openings though with steelbar slip-through protections.
Nils
each two hinges on the upper side of the flaps
