A very nice model 1:24 scale about 15" long.  Do not attempt this kit unless you are comfortable doing a lot of painting.  Every single piece of this model has to be painted and some painted two or three times.  Other than that, a relatively easy build.

    Michael,

I'm not sure if there was a parts list.  I would  go to the OCCRE web site  San Francisco cable car. OcCre model tramways and use the contact button. They have been very responsive to my questions in the past.

It is an excellent model, I hope you will enjoy it.

Hobby acrylics (no specific brand) from Walmart.  Keep mixing colors until you get a match you are happy with.  If I remember correctly the maroon color is the only one that needs to be matched.

bogeygolpher got a reaction from uncarina in Are those electric plank benders worth it?
I have been using my electric plank bender for over 20 years and would be lost without it.  I did buy a solid state soldering iron control unit to be able to adjust the temperature.  Over time i have accumulated a number of forms I use to control the shape and I have also managed to burn myself a number of times.

Not only do I use it for bending, it is quite useful as an aid for setting the PVA glue quicker. For example, when planking, I will use soak the plank and use the bender and forms to approximate the shape I want.  I then coat the back of the plank with PVA as well as place some drops of CA on the frames or bulkheads where the plank will reside. Using the CA eliminates needing clamps or nails to hold it in place.  Once the plank is in place I then run the bender over it to heat up the plank and speed up the drying of the PVA and getting a good seam with the plank already in place.  Using that method there is no wait time between applying planks and if done carefully, it helps to eliminate a lot of the bulges and dips that seem to occur between planks.

I really think it is a personal decision.  I never did glue the masts, I felt as if I needed some flexibility when applying the rigging.  Once the rigging is secured the mast was never going to move if I did the rigging correctly.  As to what was done on real ships, I have no idea.

    Mike,

I have, on occasion, had to tighten a line that has gone slack for whatever reason and have been successful in finding a location on the line where I could tighten it somewhere away from the pin rail.

This is about as cheap as you can get.  You can use it with the model upside down or right side up.

The golf courses in North Carolina are considered essential businesses, according to the Governor, so they are open.  Of course there are a bunch of new distancing rules in place at my course, including one player per riding cart.

Allan, you have provided me with yet another option, thank you.  Hit them straight and far.

Building this kit is a one time endeavor for me, I don't belong working in this scale with my tired old eyes.
I was so excited to find the kit I did not pay attention to the scale, lesson learned.

I am going to try using 1 mm beads as suggested by Henry.
My wife has a large assortment of beads and findings that I was unaware of.

If that doesn't work I will use a dollop of glue as suggested by Chris.

Thanks to everyone for your input.
