augie got a reaction from mtaylor in US Brig Syren by Augie - FINISHED - Model Shipways - 1:64
It's great to have friends like Frank, someone to count on in case one of the (short) fuses around here gets 'accidentally' lit.
But fear not, my friend. Nothing deters me from the task at hand. The topsail yard rigging has been completed and the rigging spiders are strapping on their oxygen prior to ascension to the topgallants. A photo update shall appear as soon as the t'gallants are lashed aloft!

Augie.... I think "you know who" and "others" are purposely diverting you from finishing your build .He mainly, doesn't want you to finish. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, he's getting his SI battle ready. You can read between the lines in some of his remarks that he's thinking about doing something crazy ( you know what). Just beware my friend, there's an old saying. "keep your friends close to you, but your enemies closer ", (well it goes something like that ) anyhow, be prepared !!!
Your friend ( in peace and war )
Frank

wow, didn't realize a little red car could stir up the fleet....yes, Augie, you can have your log back. Thank you Sjors, glad you enjoyed the side trip. Cars is also a fun hobby, I have a couple but that hobby is sometimes like a "money pit". But, that's another thread.....back to the shipyards!

I give up. You folks are the absolute greatest :D
Be back as soon as I figure out who snuck into the shop and belayed the topsail buntlines to where the braces are supposed to go. This may take a week

Sjors,
I leave for a couple days and completely lose track of what's going on....
I read the last couple pages twice now and am still at a loss. Perhaps it is written in Dutch???? :D
It appears there may be an attempt to gang up on you......
Should I get my mortar out of mothballs? Hmmmm...mothballs...might make good cannon balls.
Cheers,
Jim

Yeah, yeah....ratlines. Always a pleasure
But forget those. What I'm seeing is some truly excellent work on what are probably running backstays? Damned, you're good!

augie reacted to DSiemens in Mercury by DSiemens - FINISHED - BOTTLE
As a matter of fact I didn't.
The hatches I made by staining a copy of the plans then cutting out the piece and gluing it on. A trick I learned from Greg Alvey of www.folkartinbottles.com. It was part of his build of the Bounty.

Glad the bleeding has subsided. Hopefully, you used medium or thick CA for the repair ---- holds up better than the thin stuff.
Really nice job on all that planking. That is one significant quantity of wood. As requested, I wish you luck with the coppering.
Oh, please provide photo of Spitfire on low level pass. One of the few things in life that rivals a fully rigged ship-of-the-line.

Thanks Augie, if you're tall the Ferrari is not the way to go. I'm glad I'm the size I am which allows me to really enjoy it. I guess 5'8" is the average size for a "tall" Italian.... sorry to have hijacked your log here....you can blame Sjors....he started it.....lol.......Anja likes it so maybe if she ever gets to Texas I'll give her a ride in her....
got a little more done on the Morgan today, so maybe tomorrow I'll post a few pictures....

Nice car Tex. I'll use Sjors' excuse (I'm taller than he is). Besides, I gave up fast cars and sexy women long ago (or was it fast women and sexy cars?).
Robbyn- If you're going to wait for Chuck's Winchelsea, you best start scratch building. She'll be a beauty but he mentioned a while back there are no plans to kit it.
