You are flying along Andrew.  At this rate it will be finished before Christmas. My kits arrived yesterday and Mrs M immediately hid them for Christmas🎅
Looking forward to seeing how straight forward the planking is.

Some serious ship yard work goin on here!
😀 The Amati instructions are so bad that quite frankly, without the forum and the build logs, I could see how a novice would just given up in short order.

Don't worry about bending the ply, it is good quality, it can take it. These kits (Nisha and Erycina) have the bulkhead tabs rounded and tapered to help push the ply down in place, it really shouldn't be an issue.

Hi Mark,    I agree with all the rest  - Yellow Ocre  was the go to paint  back in the day, so I am sure it will look really nice  with that Blue and Black.

Same  message as the rest  with your valve  op  - all the very very best  to you mate.

I think that the yellow ochre will look really good but don't rush it.
Good luck on your surgery! You'll be as good as new afterwards. I got a new valve 6 years ago and all is good now.

Been tempted on the drinks, Jeff.

Andrew, I tried that and no joy.  So, painting is the option.  I'm giving thought to the yellow as Glenn suggested that also. Looks like a run to the hobby shop tomorrow in the morning.

I'm going to try to get this "fixed" ASAP as next week is going to be busy.  I get my new heart valve on Thursday.

Hi Mark, do you think the black has been absorbed deep into the wood grain?  Just wondering if a sharp razor blade might scrape the surface clean, rather than paint it over.  A subtle yellow ochre would do the trick if not.  Also thank you for sharing with us your "whoops" moments, as a leading poster/builder on here, if you can share those moments, then that must encourage newcomers to reach out for help on MSW when they hit problems. 👍 👏

Another little update on the build so far.

Thanks all for your likes and follows & @Jim Lad & @Andyrew  @RockinBudgie for your encouragement.

I've continued from  yesterday by adding the bow and stern reinforcement parts (17 & 18) and midship reinforcement parts (4 & 7) that hold the lower deck in place.  I did glue my "Lucky penny" near the mast hole, couldn't put it under it like the Victory as that might have caused an issue with seating the mast; for those of you thinking "What?" then this link might help explain why I did that... (coin from the year of my daughter's birth, as this little one is her's apparently - she likes the red sails! 😆)
There are two longitudinal parts (20, that sit flush with the top of the bulkheads, all I can say here is that they don't like being forced into place!  - Anyway glue is your friend! 🤐 🙄
Putting the 0.8mm ply deck in also needs a bit of care, I followed the instruction and dropped into the bulkheads slots on one side, but obviously didn't "flex" the deck enough to let in into place and a couple of the mdf bulkheads flexed a bit too much as I ham-fistedly shoved the deck down!  Luckily these get removed later on in the build... Phew.

Thanks for looking in, few more progress pics below...

Flexing the deck like that would have made me nervous. Sounds like it is a very tight fit.

It is a tight fit, but I was a bit nervous of bending the ply too much, think I should have tested it a bit first before committing to pushing the deck down, no going back once it is in I think, there are little slots on each bulkhead that hold it in place.  Must say once together the whole sub-assembly is really well held together, glue hardly needed.

Keep in mind we did moderate that that topic.   And what you cant see,   is that we did speak to those who treated the OP badly.  There is and will be no tolerance for belittling other members.   We have hundreds of members who may not be experts or they may even be beginners.   To call what they have posted as a tip or suggestion "trash"   is not something we want to condone at MSW.  We have many new builders who are proud of what they have done.  They want to share their methods and work.  It may not be perfect or masterful.  But they dont deserve to be treated badly.  And you wonder why new folks dont stick around.   Its because of people like those members who bashed the guy.  I counted six.  And I must say if those six experts suddenly vanished from the site...it would be less impactful then the scores of new builders alienated and poorly treated by them.

These so called experts who love to pontificate (you know who they are)  will not be allowed to treat other members like dirt.   They have been formally warned.   If they continue...they will be banned.  The OP of that topic was NOT banned.   Nor was the topic removed.  It was being cleaned up and pruned of the nasty remarks other members were making.    Such as the one below.  Who would actually have the balls to to post THIS!!!   ...on another persons topic no less.   They should be ashamed of themselves.  As if they are so perfect.

Pompous posters who love to pontificate on their wealth of knowledge be warned....do not treat folks this way.  There is a way to teach and educate without being a bully.  You guys are certainly NOT mentor material.  You get three strikes.....if the behavior continues...you are out.  The bully below says the member wasted his time.   You know what wasted my time...cleaning up the hate you decided to post all over someone elses topic.   That was a waste of my time.   Sending you a private message and issuing warnings to the folks who think they are "genius" masters who everyone should kiss up to....that was a waste of my time.

found the video a total waste of time. So what's to respect in the effort to make it and why do you care whether the poster "is getting pleasure in his task?" I know I may be criticized for being "insensitive," but I don't respect the efforts people put into posting useless, let alone erroneous, "how-to-do-it" videos on the internet and I could care less whether the people who post such drivel are getting pleasure from it. They waste everybody else's time. Who has the bandwidth to waste on junk content?

And here is the kicker.....non of the so -called MASTER builders in their INFINITE WISDOM of all things...posted a better method...or the correct historical reference.  They made ZERO attempt to politely state that there may be a better way or a more historically accurate way.   No attempt to teach or mentor.  They just bashed the guy and went on long Rants...like this one I am now forced to write about how so many people dont know as much as they do and yet post on You tube and the internet all this bad wrong information.....making society more stupid.

18 posts by expert bullies were pruned from that topic leaving just two replies.   All 18 had no value other than to belittle.   Shameful.   Talk about a waste of time reading those.   The replies of the bullies had no value what so ever.  Except of course maybe to allow the bullies to hear themselves claim omnipotent dominance of all things in the Universe.

    And we are off!

Done a few of the initial stages, approx steps 1 to 16 in the instructions.  Easy to follow and no fit problems at all, some of the bulkheads just slipped into place and some just need a light squeeze to get to sit snuggly.  Sanded the leading and trailing bulkheads using the marker lines as a guide on the bulkheads that needed it used my Dremel and my mask as this was a dusty operation.
Will leave it there for tonight, had my Covid booster yesterday and starting to feel the effects a bit.

I like the foil on the keel edges. I cut the plates to size, however your method looks to give a better result.  Think I’ll give that a try the next time.

    Halfway done - woot woot!
Also - I've tried at least a half dozen CA glues during this process, and this gorilla glue with the brush is by far the easiest.  It's liquid enough to spread on evenly with the handy brush but also enough of a gel to stay tacky and allow for a little bit of adjustment to the copper plate before it dries.  Really good stuff.
