Hi AJ Going back to your comments about the Humbrol paints I sand off the scorch marks and always apply white undercoat before putting the top coat on The top coat could need 2 or 3 applications Regards Ken

AJ The paints I use are as follows. Red Humbrol tinlet #60 Yellow/Buff Humbrol tinlet #103 I always undercoat first with a waterbased product from the paint shop ( white ) Black is a small can of flat black again from the paint shop And the green. The plans say "dark green " so again to the paint shop I pick a dark green from a colour chart and get a test pot made up The test pot is big enough for me to use a brush which is about 1.5 inches wide so I can paint quickly and smoothly Hope all that helps Regards Ken

Hi Ed it will be good to follow your build too. I completed a Niagara a few years ago. Most of the masts and rigging where smashed in a house move Rather than trying to repair the damage I bought a whole new kit and started again The theory being I would do a better job second time around Time will tell Regards Ken

Hello QA As far as I know MS does not have a distributor in Australia either, so we order direct from the US paying by credit card then airfreight to here The lack of a local distributor is really not a problem The freight cost is generally offset in that we don't pay US taxes and Australian GST Regards Ken

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
