Thanks so much Jeff and ZyXuz. I appreciate it... I only use basic tools and a keen eye.
I am well into scratch building the barrels for under floor.. It s been 3 hours at least over 2 evenings..
I cut strips at angles and made them all in one tube.. because the lengths are wedges, when i sand the curve at ends of barrel it gives the appearance of planks narrowing and in fact they do, just not as they really woud, but working at this size you cant build like you would a fulll size item, so one has to improvise a little.
I used "sika" super glue. it is good quality, then i filled tube with an expanding glue that helped hold the small bits together.. These are not going to be seen from alll angles so i thought better not get too carried away,, i tend to do that..
The bands i'm not 100% sure on yet, i made prototypes out of hammered soldering wire but think i need a thinner guage,, the effect is great.. and very nice to bend around two angles

I have been getting some inspiration from this lovely photo of inside the Endeavour replica.. I am not sure what colour to do walls in interior but im thinking of planking them horizontally and painting white or raw timber perhaps, any suggestions welcome.. Thanks so much everyone.. Ollie

Hi all, so i made good progress tonight. I satin clear coated the interior deck and stained the stairway. Also did a bit on the gangway. I needed to cut new front panel as i cut up original to make the door as it had great detail from laser cutter..

olliechristo reacted to Jim Lad in Francis Pritt by Jim Lad - FINISHED - Scale 1:48 - Australian Mission Ship
This will be the last update for a while as we're off on holiday next week.
I'm continuing to fit deck beams in the Pritt. I had hoped to get more done yesterday, but as it's school holidays here the museum was pretty crowded with lots of people stopping to see what I was doing and to ask questions.
It's a little hard to see what's been happening in the photos as all the wood is the same colour, but I think these two show best what the current state of play is.

A bit of extra time at the museum of late has allowed me to get ahead with the Pritt.
The counter rim frame is now roughed in and will stay like this until after hull planking, at which time I'll finish fairing it in properly.
I've also made a start on the deck beams. Once these are completed I can start to think about planking the hull.

Thanks Holty, it's been pure luck and the help of the good folks on here that has gotten me this far.. have been dreading the thoughts of shaping the masts.. me with a plane !!! Hmmmm I think not, I'll chuck them into a drill and rotate with some sand-paper held against 'em I think.. much safer (as long as I don't set fire to the masts that is )
Thanks for visiting

All Righty Then Folks Some Photos as promised...
Jeeez 'bout time eh?
I didn't get the opportunity to clean things up as I would have liked, but sure ye get the idea anyhoo !
You can just make out the hinges in one of the shots, yup they are Smaaaaallll .. can't really get any closer but I might give some different photo techniques a go later in the week (camera is away again this weekend taking more wedding photos... flippin thing has more of a life than I do )
Remember none of the deck fittings are fixed in place as yet, and the little hand rail rope (visible inside the Dog-House) is not fixed at its lower end yet either as the whole dog-house needs to be tidied up first.
Oh by the way I left the Handles on the house natural (bronze coloured) not sure whether I'll paint them black or not.. and I might add a sort of inside mechanism to the doors (Latches etc) these will be pieces of black card and perhaps thin wire, as the door handles look weird without something like that on the inner side if you follow!!
Stay Well Folks

Another very small update.
Last time I was in the museum I temporarily abandoned the deck clamps in favour of starting to fit the bilge stringers, as one of the other model makers came in and wanted to photograph the process of inserting treenails for an article he was writing and the bilge was easier for his camera focus.
What with photos, yarning about model making and an extended lunch in the museum café, I didn't get much done!

Thanks Divarty.. I appreciate it.. I have actually been coming close to feeling starting on something, could even be the big girl yet, i think i need to take Greg's approach, maybe just focus on the hull and see what happens.. The monsoon will give me some spare time again.. although Im a bit freaked out by mould in the house we live at.. Ollie

You're going to need a vacuum bag for her and some moisture traps to stop her warping!

Ollie I have to second what the other gents have said, your first build is gorgeous, clean and well crafted. If you fee like you can't make the headway on your current build because of other commitments or it just doesn't call to you don't throw it out or sell it just shelve it and move to something that takes less commitment I have a whaleboat and the Cutty Sark shelved right now because they were beyond the scope of time I could commit and my ability, however at some point I will go back to them. Find a build that calls to you and fits in the scope of time that you have. At some point Endeavour will call to you again.

Hi Ollie.
Just catching up on your build.. I started reading through last year.
Amazing build and with all the improvements you have made makes for a real nice model to display.
Lots of attention to details and accuracy in this build .. You should give your self a pat on the back.
Regards Antony.
