    Hi Ben Seeing your sketches makes me wish I was a naval architect as well! Not for want of trying though, but my maths scores weren't high enough at school, hence I missed out. The reason I'm saying this is because it's a marvellous opportunity that you have to combine your professional skills with your modelling skills. I envy you!!     Hi everyone! Thanks for all your likes and comments! Greatly appreciated. Special thanks also to Dennis, Jeff, Igor and David for their recent comments. The next few photos show the progress made so far on the owner's cabin at the rear as well as the galley. I've also temporarily marked the topside of the hull with a black marker pen, just to get an idea of the final paint job. Not too bad, I thought. I'll paint it properly afterwards.     Hi Dennis Looking really good. I especially love the railings that you've built. The smaller details that you're building now are also great. I can't get over the size of the model. I know the scale's all relative, of course, but when I look at the size of the hull and deck taken from a distance, it's clear that the the broad beam and wide decks means that there's no end to the amount of details that you can add.     Hi Jan Thanks for showing the step by step process of how you build your hulls. For people like myself who have always been amazed at card models, it's great to see and learn from masters, such as yourself. I hope that you'd be able to continue to show each step of the process from this point forward, because what really intrigues me is how you decide just what can and cannot be built from card. For instance, when do you decide that card is sufficient for a particular purpose, as opposed to wood or, say plastic? Also, how do you make cardboard appear so convincingly as wood. That'll be good to know, as well. All in all, I really enjoy your updates. Please keep them coming! Cheers Patrick

    Hi Igor. Now that's nice!!! I really like the clean separation between the red and black and especially the way you've done the light coloured waterline. Is there any chance you could show how you did it because I'm really impressed with the way it bends nicely at the stern. The hull lines, together with that really nice sheer line, are equally nice as well. The Atlantic was certainly a real looker! Well done Cheers Patrick

    Hi Rob This was my first visit to your wonderful build log, however, for some reason, most of the photos do not appear on my screen (apart from one or two early ones of the hull set into the unfinished sea and a later one of the bare masts). Nonetheless, I've seen enough to admire your workmanship and the effort that you've gone to build your Donald MacKay. Hopefully, whatever glitch I'm experiencing with your photos will resolve itself, enabling me to view them. All the best! Cheers Patrick

    Hi everyone Hope your week's been going well. Rainbow's progress continues...my main objective though, has been to concentrate on the major bulkheads and cupboard, etc. Once I'm happy that these are in place, then I'll start on the other details, such as the doors, mattresses, sink, galley, etc. I hope you enjoy these photos.
