  1. Hi everyone Thank you for all of your wonderful comments. I'm just glad that you all like my models! KeithW, thanks also for joining in and welcome aboard! Mike-many thanks. One question, though. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "white scots on the original materialised". Can you please clarify? Thanks Patrick
  2. Hi Leo I really don't know about the "master" thing, but I'm happy that you like my models, anyway. It's a great compliment. I'm looking forward to more updates, especially as the hull's taking shape beautifully. Cheers Patrick
  3. Hi Leo What can I say but "those cannons are marvellous!" The paint job you've given them highlight the fine detail beautifully. Very well done! Cheers Patrick
  4. Hi Ben Seeing your sketches makes me wish I was a naval architect as well! Not for want of trying though, but my maths scores weren't high enough at school, hence I missed out. The reason I'm saying this is because it's a marvellous opportunity that you have to combine your professional skills with your modelling skills. I envy you!! I'm also, without a doubt, going to love following your build log. All the best! Patrick
  5. Hi Igor. She's looking great. The addition of the simulated frames on the bulwarks adds a really nice touch. I'm looking forward to seeing more updates. Cheers Patrick
  6. Hi Matija I definitely agree with Bob! Looking forward to this. All the best. Patrick
  7. Hi everyone! Thanks for all your likes and comments! Greatly appreciated. Special thanks also to Dennis, Jeff, Igor and David for their recent comments. The next few photos show the progress made so far on the owner's cabin at the rear as well as the galley. I've also temporarily marked the topside of the hull with a black marker pen, just to get an idea of the final paint job. Not too bad, I thought. I'll paint it properly afterwards. All the best everyone! Cheers Patrick
  8. Aaaah!!! Sneaky! Well done and very effective. Cheers Patrick
  9. Now that's one hell of a sea!!!! Thanks again. Patrick
  10. Hi Dennis Looking really good. I especially love the railings that you've built. The smaller details that you're building now are also great. I can't get over the size of the model. I know the scale's all relative, of course, but when I look at the size of the hull and deck taken from a distance, it's clear that the the broad beam and wide decks means that there's no end to the amount of details that you can add. That's the beauty of building at your scale, I guess. Look forward to more updates. Cheers Patrick have a
  11. Hi Lextin I can see why you were getting tired of making the sails, because all your hard work has definitely paid off. They look absolutely brilliant! I'm looking forward to launch day. All the best! Patrick
  12. Hi Igor. It was actually the White waterline, that I was curious about. Is it painted, or is it a wooden plank that you bent around to meet nicely at the stern? Cheers Patrick
  13. Nice and clean planking, Jim. Are you tempted to not put the last plank in; thereby exposing the framework for people to admire? Cheers Patrick
  14. Hi Jan Thanks for showing the step by step process of how you build your hulls. For people like myself who have always been amazed at card models, it's great to see and learn from masters, such as yourself. I hope that you'd be able to continue to show each step of the process from this point forward, because what really intrigues me is how you decide just what can and cannot be built from card. For instance, when do you decide that card is sufficient for a particular purpose, as opposed to wood or, say plastic? Also, how do you make cardboard appear so convincingly as wood. That'll be good to know, as well. All in all, I really enjoy your updates. Please keep them coming! Cheers Patrick
  15. Hi Igor. Now that's nice!!! I really like the clean separation between the red and black and especially the way you've done the light coloured waterline. Is there any chance you could show how you did it because I'm really impressed with the way it bends nicely at the stern. The hull lines, together with that really nice sheer line, are equally nice as well. The Atlantic was certainly a real looker! Well done Cheers Patrick
  16. Hi Piet, Elia, Kevin, Bob and all who Liked my progress so far. Many thanks and greatly appreciated! Have a great weekend. Cheers Patrick
  17. Hi Bob Yep. That surprised me as well!! I guess it's a case of 'rich boys and their toys". All the best!!! Cheers Patrick
  18. Hi Rob This was my first visit to your wonderful build log, however, for some reason, most of the photos do not appear on my screen (apart from one or two early ones of the hull set into the unfinished sea and a later one of the bare masts). Nonetheless, I've seen enough to admire your workmanship and the effort that you've gone to build your Donald MacKay. Hopefully, whatever glitch I'm experiencing with your photos will resolve itself, enabling me to view them. All the best! Cheers Patrick
  19. Hi Dennis Your AG is looking amazing; what with all the time and inspiration that you've put into it. You must be very proud about the process so far! Cheers Patrick
  20. Hi everyone Hope your week's been going well. Rainbow's progress continues...my main objective though, has been to concentrate on the major bulkheads and cupboard, etc. Once I'm happy that these are in place, then I'll start on the other details, such as the doors, mattresses, sink, galley, etc. I hope you enjoy these photos. Cheers Patrick
  21. Hi Jan Very nice. She's taking shape nicely. Cheers Patrick
  22. Ok. Ok. Ok...I have to ask-how did u cut the hull in half???
  23. Hi Mehmet Many thanks for explaining that. I'll definitely be following along! Cheers Patrick
  24. Hi Matjia I can see another beautiful model coming from your shipyard. Looking forward to following along! Cheers Patrick
