Totally outrageous!!!! and then questioning your skill level??? Horse pucky my friend, the scale you are working with and then making all the details look as if they are life size is insane. You'll do okay with the bathrooms too, just make them large enough to comfortably work on them and then treat them with Preparation H, they'll shrink to fit
Cheers,
Thanks Piet!!!!
Mmmmm...Preparation H, you say! Well, I never! Come to think of it...it may just work!!!
Have a great weekend.
Cheers

HI Denis
What better way to spend time than with the grandkids! I hope they enjoy the modelling every bit as you will.
Oh...and did I forget to mention that the long forecastle of the boat looks mighty sharp! That, combined with the red trim looks pretty darn good!
All the best!

Hi Patrick,
i
Thank you so much, I do get a kick out of ship models. I have spent the last 2 weeks finishing up my last four ships, There is a stern wheeler rattling around in my head......
, plus, I realized that I am running out of room, have to post a thread titled " Does your house look like this?" LMAO.
Thanks again for your encouragement, Keith
Hi Keith
I had the same problem years ago in my house after my RC yachts began to grow and grow and grow.
My solution? Build miniatures! They take up next to no room and are easy to display.
Who knows? You may want to try one, too.
Quick question - Are you going to display your new models in the Gallery section?
Cheers and thanks

Congratulations Keith
Both ships are simply wonderful. It's easy to see just how much you love this whole ship-building experience.
I reckon you've set the bar pretty high in terms of what you've achieved so far. What's next?
Any hints?
Cheers

Hi Rob
I have been lurking silently in the background...admiring your work. However, no more will "I lurk silently"! I really must speak up now. Seriously...the sheer speed in which you're pulling this beautiful hull together is mind-boggling.
Outstanding stuff!
I'm really looking forward to what you've got in store for us next.
Cheers

Bathrooms only forr'ard ... !?!?!?
Soon you won't be able to move you bum around. Should be fun in high seas all those accoutrements ... a few additional lockers/closets should be in order ... If I think off anything else to add, I'll let you know mate
Cheers
Hi Carl - I agree! You wouldn't want to be claustrophobic, would you? I reckon the owner's suite on the Main Deck would be the pick of the bunch.
Hi Patrick,
Amazing detail !!!! Looking forward to more. With your ability at detail I fully expect when you get the bathrooms done I will be able to hear the flush from here...
Keep up the good work Mate, Keith
Hi Keith - Thanks for dropping by. Speaking of flushing...years ago, my Dad made a 48 inch radio controlled luxury cruiser which did indeed have a flushing toilet in it! Tricky stuff, it was...but it actually flushed and refilled whilst the model was underway. I still marvel when I think about how he did it.
Just found a bit of wi fi on my vacation to check things out and my god Patrick! You should be very proud, this is such an unusual and beautiful model! Lovely work and a great journey.
Hi Vaddoc - great to hear from you and thanks for your compliments! Majellan's journey has been long, but fun, so far. I hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday. All the best
I finally caught up to this one Patrick. Thanks for the link. Simply amazing as usual. This will inspire me to see what kind of detail I can put on my Preussen SIB at the scale I am working on. Good to see your getting lots of modelling time in
Bravo ... Jeff
Hi Jeff - thanks for your compliments. I have been wondering about how you were going with your Preussen, but I understand that your family circumstances are more important at this stage. Hopefully, things will settle down, thereby allowing you to work on her again.
Patrick,
Found something lacking ... Where can I stow my gear, servants quarters ...
Hi Carl - Yeah, you're probably right about the lack of storage space. But, hey, I put the blame squarely on the designer...not me! Well....that's my excuse, anyway
. Have a good one!
All the best everyone! Thanks, also to everyone for their Likes as well.
Cheers

Thanks Bob! I like it better, too. There is a lot of sense in not re-inventing the wheel; there is a reason many small sailboat interiors are very similar - because they work. I appreciate the input!
And, it looks like I need to find a friend with a scroll saw or band saw, since the CFO for our household will certainly not authorize that purchase for some time...
Hi Ben
I'm also loving the new interior as well. I really envy the naval architect's training and thinking that you're putting into the design; without which, the whole design would be neither feasible, or liveable. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to seeing it all come together.
Cheers

and your doubting your skill level?!?!?! baloney! awesome detail you've got in there! loss of detail vs scale really doesn't apply here.........I guess you've shot that theory down.....in FLAMES! table and chairs look great..........I do notice that one of the chairs is backwards. is that a 'missing man' sort of thing?
love the murals too.........adding bits like that can add so much more depth to a build.......A+++
Hi Denis
Thanks for your comments. I must admit that I'm really surprised at just how well the murals came out - better than I ever thought they would.
Also, the 'missing man' analogy is a nice one, but sadly, it wasn't the case here. The reason for it was to create the impression of the guests just getting up from the table without pushing their chairs back. I reckon it gives a more realistic look to the deck.
Have a good'un!

And you keep adding more detail . . . and more . . . and more . . . and
Bob
Thanks Bob!
Details? What details??? Just joking, of course!
Stay tuned, because now I'm working on the bathrooms at the forward part of the Lower Deck. Teeny tiny, but still challenging to see how I'm going to be able to do them convincingly.
Have a great day!

Wonderful build. I love these miniature models..you have done so very well with the hull cut away too. I enjoy miniature modeling...it is nearly as difficult as building the larger scales. Your example is superb.
Reminds me of a commission I received so very long ago to build a full hull and half model(both around 6") of tis little steam launch called the Puffin.
I still have the hull molds and several half model hulls.
Several years ago I enquired about them models and it appears they have been placed in storage.
It looked like this.
Hi Bob
Thanks for your compliments. Greatly appreciated!
I love old steam launches like Puffin. There's something magical about a steam power plant that adds a certain 'majesty' to a boat. Almost as if it's really alive.
If you have any photos of your full and half hull models, it'd be great to post them on the Gallery. However, given that they were built some time ago, that's probably not possible, though.
Thanks and all the best.
Cheers

Hi folks
Just a quick update for you. The internal fit-out of the lower deck continues. Last night, I added the mattresses and pillow-cases in the cabins, as well as another couple of cupboards in the two forward cabins.
Also, as I don't think I'd shown you guys before: A few weeks ago I added table mats to the round outdoor table situated on the Bridge Deck. You can just see it in one of the photos.
I hope you enjoy the photos!
All the best.
Cheers

HI Jeff
It's great to hear from you and no need to apologise.
I'm glad that you like Majestic. She was tiny, but great fun to build. I'm also happy that you can learn some tips and tricks from her build (as I do from yourself and others on MSW).
I hope your wife's parents are not too ill and that recovery is only a short journey away.
As for my current build, well...she's a fair bit different from anything I've ever done before. If you get a chance, please have a look at: http://modelshipworld.com/index.php/topic/11384-majellan-by-omega1234-luxury-37-metre-motor-yacht-1200-miniature-7-inches-approx/page-1

Hi Elijah
Many thanks! It's great to hear from you and thank you for all your Likes and for following Majellan's journey.
I really like what you're doing with your Pilot Launch in the Kit Build Forum. She's a beauty for sure! Keep up the great work.
All the best.

Hi Ben
It's great to hear from you and thanks for your compliments. Congratulations also, on becoming a registered naval engineer!
I'm happy that you like Majellan, especially seeing as you were so influential in the initial shaping of her hull. Not long to go now; apart from lots of tiny fiddly stuff.
I'll be sad to finish her, though. She is, (the full sized boat) after all, a beautiful boat, indeed.
Cheers
