lol
Andy you are such a tease,
i can fit the Victory in that position between the door and window, in the diorama set up, there will be no 1/64 Victory, unless Chris Watton gives me the Amati completed one, and i will trash mine, my other builds like the Amerigo Vesspucci (hull) only and my 1/24 Section (when started) will perhaps go into my shipyard
all the best
You know, if you move the table a bit to the left...
Suspend the TV from the ceiling....
Get rid of the book case and stuff all the books on the window ledge...
You'd be halfway to creating enough space for a certain 1:64 Vic.... -
947 total hours build time
Guess what, - nah you will never guess, i will just have to tell you
I did some of my build tonight, yep got a whole 90 mins on her, that's the weaning off from playing EVE taking effect
she now has two catheads fitted, as i spend some time getting the bow to look the same from both side, im well pleased
roll on tomorrow

Small update...with summer not much time to work on the cross section.....just a little at a time
Since I decided to go with cherry for the treenail.....don't know if this was a good idea or a really stupid one
Got down to making me some
First I had to make a zero clearance insert for my saw...did not have any aluminium or plastic so I used cherry
ripped some cherry strips down to about .040 square
Then started pulling them through my draw plate. Taking them down to about .023 in size. This is smaller in scale than it should be at 1:32 but with them
be so much darker than the maple the will not look like the section has a bad case of the measles....I hope
So now it is time to set back turn on the music and PULL for awhile
why do you set a zero tolerance on the blade, is it to help feed the stock wood through and stop it sagging, or help avoid any blade movement?

so you take the build over, what happens to it then, do they display it, use it for the posters/etc, or do they just give it to me?
-
I have some masking tape of the right width and thickness, sealed with Matt varnish.
Probably not the 'done thing' but seems to work OK.
Nick
im using evergreen, nothing traditional there either, but looks ok

what are you using as the straps?

I cannot imagine transporting your masterpiece 1000 miles in a van
. Remember what happened to the "Kings Men" during an analogous transit with Humpty Dumpty
. How will you prepare your gem for the journey
?

i have a plan to help him, i am going to get him to send mine, so it does not matter if it gets damaged in transit, meanwhile - i will surprise the wife by completing my build over night, and give it to her as a surprise

A small problem arose when dry fitting the patterns the middle one protrudes above the bow about 3-4 mm Im not sure if thats correct. The lower one did not fit perfectly at the stern as I had to move it slightly forward in order not to have a bulkhead blocking one of the gun ports. I dont think this will be to much of a problem though as it will all be planked over and painted.
yes thats what i had on mine, all ties in with the beak-head planking, heads and gratings, then not seen when the bow decoration is fitted

i believe the kits are excellent, but like all others, the more you put into it, the better the results gained, i was going to build the Royal William, perhaps wish i had, instead of the Victory, once or twice a year they seam to have some excellent offers on
