Good evening everyone the wheel house is getting attention again. another spot light fitted and the bits and pieces that stand in front of the window. which still have to be toned down, two more air vents to find that sit on the roof tonight the boat deck supports are being fitted, they cannot be secured to the hull as the whole assembly is removable, so i dont quite know how to stop them falling inwards, as they are on wire hinges

Good evening everyone, i have had a delay on completing her, last week i started to watch Game of Thrones Season 1, the wife was not interested in it what so ever, she told me many times what she thought of it was having never seen any of it, however she sat down and watched episode 10 with me, instantly liked it and started asking what happened in the previous episodes, so we started watching them from the start, she is hooked, and we are on 4 episodes a day, and well into season 2

since finishing my Victory, i have done a few fibre glass hulled kits, this one has made me realise, its time to go back to masting and rigging, the Cutty sark is awaiting the build table, hopefully within the next couple of weeks, i am not sue about the complexity of the AV i just think its a kit that could have been so much better, (where have we all heard that before) but a have a couple of pointers that might help you, check the stern decoration veranda against the hull early on, the hull could do with some more thickness behind the portholes, as it gets quite thin there after sanding, and you get a nice finish with using the port hole strips as a template but dont use them, you will get a great result painting the white area directly to the hull

Good morning Ken I started mine about 10 years ago, and then abanoded her in favour of the 1/72 Victory, there are some lovely builds of her around, and she makes into a stunning build,But its a shame that very very few are completed, and i dont know why, She is a very busy ship, and basicly the kit parts do her no justice what so ever, and therfore to get a realistic finish the instructions need to be binned and and obtaining some decent reference material I wish you luck and will follow your journey, as i have plans to redo mine in the future, at present i have stripped her down to the bare hull

thank you for the comments still to sort the wiring under the bridge roof, as it is stopping me putting it into position rig the foremast. put the braces in for the after gallows find homes for at least 100 bits, mainly brackets, cleats, chains tidy her up and then fwd to aft touch ups another week or so and then i think as a build she will be completed, and then be set aside for the diorama which will be an ongoing never ending project

Good morning everyone, worked late last night, sorting the wiring out, the power supply connections are now in position, each connection brings another ray of light into the build, hopefully today, subject to DIY projects the top section will be powered up at the same time as the hull for the first time

good morning everyone getting the hull ready to accept the superstructure, prop shaft and rudder fitted but they are removable, in case someone else takes the hull in the future and wants to make her water tight, they will also have to fill another couple of holes as the power supply connectors are going to be fitted into the hull just under the bilge keel, this will be the same side as the dock side when in its diorama, most likely port side to, that way no wires will be seen

good evening everyone its been a strange few months, i thought that being retired, life would be great, and it is, but obvious things outside my garden are not, But after a couple of weeks feeling quite low/fed up, i have pulled myself back together and the St Nectan continues i have gone back to the superstructure now and have sorted the bridge wings, and today most of the lighting has been commissioned, all working for the first time, i will work on no flash photos in the next few days, i have a remote built in that will control the brightness, navigation lights will have there own power supply

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
