This is a reposting of a former buildlog, the build is finished and photo's of the result are shown in the galery. The ship was used during the reign of King Sahoere from Egypt, he was the 2nd King of the 5th Dynastie. He reigned from 2487 bC till 2475 bC, so this is an early build. The ship was used for transporting cedar and ebony form Libanon to Egypt. Nails were not invented yet, the entire ship is put together with rope. Overall length: 35 cm. Mike, I have to echo John and Patrick, great job. I have some months to go for the decision how to paint the dragon's head and mask.

Adrieke, have fun with this nice ship. Sanding the bulkheads in a proper way is priority in my opinion, afterwards it's easier to adjust the deck. Just my 2 cents.

Jeff, she is easy to build, so it's not so hard to satisfy your wife . Seven planks on each side were enough to close the hull, no difficult bending. Overview: First modifiation is upcoming. This is according to the instrucions: And look at this photo of the replica: It's not quit the same .

Hi Adrieke, Nice job . I don't know what's your next step, but wait for fixing the chimney stacks until next deck is on its place. It fits not so well (in my kit it didn't).

John, excellent job on the stairs. It was in my experience the most tricky part of the kit, if you manage this part you can manage the whole ship .

Main deck and rigging canons (1:100 !) Heliview: Selfmade anchors. Weathered the hull with acrylics, light and dark oil.

Painted the stern not using the decals. Scratched the boat and not using the plastic one. I have always problems with railings, this was my solution. Photos will tell the story.

Fully planked now and some extra woodstrips at the innerside of the bulkheads. Front deck: Only a few narrow gaps, to be solved with carpenters glue mixed with sanding dust. First decorations. Painting in red.

For some reasons my former buildlog was vanished . I'll give it a try to replace the log mainly with photos. Box: Start with keel and frames: I had a lot op problems with the twisted keel, but it turned out fine at the end. Some extra wood was needed as support. Hello Sjors, How important is it for you to build 100% historically correct? In my opinion the wire (brass?) looks very fine. Have you tried already a golden acrylic paint, together with Tamiya-tape you can have good results either.

A small but crucial update for me. I finished the construction of the paddlewheel and positioned it at the stern. After the glue has dried I need a little putty, sanding and painting.

Sjors, luckily next to chatting you found some time to build . Nice progress again. If you're not satisfied with the gratings, replace them before continueing with the bowsprit.

Wouter, I have a Proxxon DSH and it's a very fine tool in my opinion. Next to shipmodeling I use it for homeprojects too.
