  1. Hello Adrieke, Thanks for your advice, I've done that on the outside and it's better than this innerside. That's the charm of modeling ships, always seeking for solutions .
  2. Good evening Sjors, It may be a strange vessel, but I like her The last photos for this weekend, the rest of the week my employer wants me to be in the office . Bending sideboards - 5mm x 5mm cherry. First soaked in water of course. And the first modification of the tail (not finished yet). Furthermore I want to hide the gap at the right side - I'll fix it, but need some time to think about that.
  3. Nice job Adrieke. In fact there were small windows on top of the second deck. On the outside were the guestrooms and in the middle the bar, diningroom, etc. Maybe a photo tells more (left upper corner).
  4. Thanks Rick and here is some more. First the bow (rounded planks): Parts of the mast foot: Dryfitted in ship: The tail of the ship must be extended with three pieces, now trying to repair the small gap with sawdust and a bit of carpenters glue. It's not done yet. Preparation of the maindeck: Overview (dryfit):
  5. Wow Sjors, you've got some work to do, 5.000-10.000 knots with a dot of glue on each, if done you will need a shrink.
  6. Nice job Jan, The macro is not only for you, but also for us to see everything .
  7. Nice progress Adrieke. Tools are indeed useful for the rough shape, nothing can beat the manual part for the finishing touch.
  8. Mike, the anchor looks great, a good decision. As for the spikes, you don't have to get bored the next days ,
  9. Just noticed this topic and I must say this is amazing ! Looking forward for the next update.
  10. Augie, I totally agree with you that it is up to Sjors now, it's his choice and I will respect that .
  11. It's good to hear your first interview was positive. And now for the second one .
  12. Nice progress Sjors. Hope you don't mind, but I will echo Garward to blacken the brass on the rudder if still possible. Just my two cents and hoping you won't shoot with cottonballs .
  13. Nice job on the handrails. I was mistaken in that part, first placed the upperdeck and had to do the railing with tweezers.....
  14. Hello Sjors, indeed I went to Sjaaks in Leiden, you can have a look on his website, if not in stock he will order a ship.
  15. Thanks Adrieke and Sarah for looking in and your nice words. For some reason or another I choose these kind of ships. My next build is more 'normal', it will be the gundeck of Vasa (1:24) and in the closet a Bounty with interior.
  16. Making and colouring own sails: Rigging: Two big stones were used to keep the mast steady: Sewing the sails: Oars: And finished: More pictures of the finished model are in the galery.
  17. Mast: Supllied sail : These ships had no keel, so stability was low. For more stability the Egyptians exerted a rope over the length of the ship.
  18. Hi Sjors, I travelled a lot, but I bought this kit in Leiden, close to home . Thanks for looking in.
  19. More holes: I used adhesive tape also: Tools for drilling: Overview: Tools for rope: Rope everywhere :
