Hi Boxer13,

I've just started this myself.  You'll find lots of great help here as you get you 1st build underway!  There are some suggestions for new builders that you can consider on the new members forum if you haven't seeing already

Welcome aboard Boxer13.  We are all on a first name basis here.  You have come to the right place for your boat building experience.  Like Doug, I too am on my first build and have learned a ton from it.

One thing I did was to buy an inexpensive boat that is beginner friendly so I can learn from it.  I have found it very valuable in learning different ways of doing things and new techniques. I don't know if the boat will ever make it to the display case but I can honestly say that when I do my next build, the Bluenose, I will have some experience behind me.

I hope when you select a boat you will start a build log.  Look forward to seeing it.

Welcome aboard Boxer,

You've come to the right place. This is a great site for learning/sharing tips and techniques.

As for your build, whatever you decide, make sure it has your interest and that you really want to build it.

That way you'll be more likely to get through the trials and errors.

And if needed, you'll find plenty of help, advise and encouragement from everyone.

You might have a look in the Ship Modeling Database of articles for information about Model Ship Kits - What to expect and Kit selection http://modelshipworldforum.com/ship-model-plans-and-research.php

I wish you smooth sailing and happy modelling,

Regards,

Anja

Welcome to MSW Ted! Good to have you with us. There are lots of great ships out there for you to choose from and while I always recommend starting with something simple to get your feet wet and learn the basics, we will gladly help you through any build you decide to try out. Best of luck to you on your first build and happy modeling!
