Hi David,

Welcome to the surprise party  :D  :D  :D

You can move the chain a little to the left where it hits the cannon.

And some other thing ( maybe I'm to late with that )

The chains has to follow the directions of the shrouds......

Just place a mast, put on one rope, hold it down and you will see witch direction the chain has to go.....

For the rest ,it's looking good !!!!!

Sjors is correct on this....and he may be too late.  We can't tell where your mast is from this photo.  But yes, the shrouds will angle to where they attach to the mast so you generally wind up with a sort of triangle arrangement.  This might give you the angle to clear that gun port.  Of course then you would need to re-attach all the chains and they would probably all need to be modified for length.  Tough call, DC

Don't finish the mast David !

Just put a dowel in, rope at the top and lead him the way a shroud should go.

Then you have the right direction.

Maybe it is not that much work to remove the chain and do to again ?

Yikes---- Sjors is right.  Don't finish the mast just yet.  Just stand them in at their proper angles temporarily so you can set the chainplate angles.

It's not a bad side ....... it's the wall side.  We all have one.  (My ships sometimes have four).

Danged old windows updates, I'm slowly getting all my followed logs remarked for email notification.

She's looking good DC. Don't feel bad. With a strong chemical and physics background the shroud and chain alignment never occurred to me until Andy drew a picture for me. Then the bell went off. If the shroud changes angle into the chain it causes stress at the channel connection point. DOH

But then that's is why I started this hobby as I knew sailors were better mental physicist's then most Ph.D's If known, at least in basic mechanic. Learning rigging and how it works is a long course in the study of applied mechanics. It takes a while to absorb the way the knowledge actually applies to ships, so don't feel bad.

I think you doing great. An your Corsair is turning into a wonderful build.

You are doing great David,  give it a shot see how it lines up - don't condemn it to the wall side QUITE yet, often what may seem daunting turns out not that bad - plus you avoid the moment of looking back and thinking "Man, I should have....."

You can do it! :10_1_10:

Ok all moved in and repaired the moving damage to the ship.....no pics but feel free to try and find it lol.

So I've done another set of chains (seems to be quite difficult for me not sure why ) I did try the angle with these so.....

Spacing is looking good.  Might want to tweak that one deadeye (6th from the left) a hair to align the upper holes with the others.
