Bireme by MESSIS - FINISHED - Amati - adding wind-filled sail to completed model from 2015

Recommended Posts

Three years ago, as I did not knew then (in 2015) how I could install a sail looking filled with wind, I finished my Amati Bireme 1/35 build, with a folded sail. Today I have decided to replace the folded sail with a new one, a new one filled with wind! . (the build was not posted 2015 in the Gallery. but later 2017)

So now  I went to experiment with the way he explained to me. Using the GAC 400 stiffener

After the ship was ready for installing the new (standing and running) rigging and the new sail. Also the mast was replaced with a new one, better crafted as the existing  one. Also the deck varnish was refreshed and some other minor improvements and repairs were made.

The two sails:

She looks much better with the full sail Messis, great work!! I recently finished the Liburnian Novilara by MarisStella(no build log) and achieved the same effect by installing wires into the edges of the sail.

Very nice build!!

thank you donrobinson,

Installing wires was my second choice. The bireme sail was actually an experiment in order to try the GAC400 on my build Hermione. The scale of Hermione 1/89 I think its too small for the use of wire. Anyway it turned out that GAC its very easy to use and  I believe am going to have even better results in the future.
