Revell 1:96 plastic model of USS Constitution

Gentlemen, I am working on a Revell 1:96 scaled plastic model kit of USS Constitution (Kit # 85-0398).  Somehow, according to instruction manual, the number of eyebolts needed seem to be way more than what came in the kit.  And then I lost a couple while trying to pick up with forceps.  They just jumped out of the grip and evaporated in thin air.  So, I was wondering if there was any place I could call and purchase a set/packet or something.  They are soooo tiny !!!  At one point I thought I would make some from the plastic sticks remained after I took out the real parts.  But that would be too time consuming and not always accurate.  I have already called Blue Jacket, but they only have brass fixtures. Revell is no help.  They just washed their hands off it, saying that they are not processing any spare parts orders for "Old" plans from "Revell - US".  I'd appreciate any suggestions.

I found this listing on ebay..  I see quite a few eyebolts..

If I remember correctly, the gun deck calls for a ton of those eyebolts.

99% Of them will not be visible on the finished model..

 

However it's been a while and I might be confusing the gun deck with the spar deck, where they are quite visible..

Hi LB, best practice for those is to not use them anyway, they're overscale and too weak at the same time - try ages of sail https://www.agesofsail.com/ecommerce/fittings/other-fittings/eyebolts/amati-eyepin-am4703.html  these come in packs of 100 for about $3 and then there are the photo etched ones, you can get them from many places, and don't be afraid to use brass or copper ones, you can always chemically blacken or paint them.  Many of the guys here use wire and just loop, bend and glue on the underside of the deck.  Look at some of the plastic build logs here to get a lot of very good ideas, any of the Revell 1/96's or Heller 1/100's should be most applicable.........Steve M

 

But don't let me tell you what to do - you da boss on your own ship, and looks like Gregory has a good lead!  BTW - It really is all about the hokey pokey ;^)

The revell Connie was one of my first models. This takes me back a bit. I think I still have my bag of spare parts, but it looks like the others have provided better solutions.

I have used a lot of plastic HO scale model railroad eyebolts on my model of the Victory (1:98 scale Mantua).

Thanks guys! Yea, I was browsing the web and came across a YouTube clip showing how to make these eyebolts from wire loop.  That's pretty good.  But I think I like Coxswain's idea of not using them at all.  Atleast not on the Gun Deck.  They won't show anyway.  So, I think I'll just glue the gun carriages to the deck floor, and use wire loops on the Spars Deck.  You guys are awesome.  Thanx a bunch again.
