No Denis, he had cut himself off from the world  not answered any text messages and his phone was just ringing out,     we sent him a care package before christmas but was not delivered,  cut along story  - I found out who is local psot office is  gave then a ring and the care package was with them, the nice chap there agreed to try and drop it at my bro's  but on Two visits  no reply so he left it with my bro's neighbour, she took it in and over several days tried knocking to  get my bro to to answer, in the end she was worried and rung the police, they had to go through her's and over the fence and broke into his around the back where they found him very poorly and in his bed, they called for an ambulance  who then put him in a streatcher  and rushed him to hospital.

From what I was told  if we had not sent the parcel it would not have led his neighbour to have rung the police ans he would probably have been dead now as he hadn't eaten or drank for days.

He has had a few things happen over a short time perod thats made him very depressed  leading to him not looking after himself  also  with lock downs it must have scared him about going out even for food.

It is a worry.   but I try to give myself somthing to focus on as constatntly worrying about him wont change anything  (hope that does not come across un caring)

OC, no, it's a realistic view. Thankfully, you cared enough to roust his neighbors. Has to be a scary proposition lately with the lockdowns and such for some folks living alone. People need a focus outside of the day to day doings. We on MSW have such interests to keep our gray matter working designing, building and coloring.  Model on.

Thank you Ken  for saying that,  I guess we all have like parts of our emotions  - we switch on our  caring head and get on with emergencies that crop up, then to preserv ourselves we emerse ourselves in a hobby  kind of like our own self healing.

Your farm diorama will look super with those structures, OC. And the ground foam scenery materials are easy to apply. Dilute some white glue, sprinkle the foam and ground covered. Use a blend of colors - look at your last photo.

Yep a 33% mix white glue to water, (1 part glue 2 parts water) through a spray bottle.... I'll never forget that mix...... Model railroad's most used glue mix....

Gonna look fantastic.....

Apperently the last pic - its comes pre made on a strip, I will  be adding some soil/dirt and trees to that  as it will be for the orchard  where the french first attacked, then the other end  where the veg garden was  (not as mutch room that side)  I will  possibly use some of the same  - make it all look beat up from all the trampling  off the all the soldiers.

The scenics and farm buildings will look great!

A suggestion for the road is fine coat ready mixed filler with a touch of sand added, that way you can add wheel ruts before it sets. My twopence worth.

Hey brother, I forgot something... Dish soap.....

1 part white glue, 2 parts water and a tsp of dish soap, you know the squirt bottle type....

It acts as a surfactant breaking the surface tension of the water so it soaks in easier.... So the glue mix doesn't bead up and lay on the surface....

Works a lot better this way.....

Edward has it for the muddy, rutted road. Don't think they had many paved roads outside of the bigger towns.  And yes, "wet" water to soak into the roadway dirt and such.

You may have purchase an artillery piece or a cart in 28mm? scale to do the ruts. Just for wheel width to be right.

Another interesting aspect  - I will be taking the bases off the figures  so they will be on thier feet, would be good  if I could show them slightly bogged down as the ground had been sodden from heavy rain so thier feet would have been partially covered in the soft grounds I would have thought?
